There is a guy on RealGM with inside information that leaked all of this, with more detail, yesterday (before anybody else wrote anything about it). He's legit, a mod at RealGM tracked his IP which followed back to a league office, and he released this information early. This guy also released the Shawn Marion discussion before Chad Ford did.

Apparently, we are also in heavy discussion with Atlanta in a deal that would send Joe Johnson and the #11 pick to Boston for Gerald Green, Theo Ratliff, and the #5 pick (in which they would take Conley, and then Wright at 3). There is more to the discussion as well, as we are also trying to bring Shelden Williams to Boston in that deal, and this guy says that Atlanta really is not opposed to that.

I would much rather do the Atlanta deal than Lewis, even though we would be able to keep the #5 pick with Lewis.

I like the idea of keeping the #5 and getting lewis.we get immediate help to keep Paul happy and heck Ainge could even roll the dice on Yi with the #5 if Horford doesn't fall into our lap.Joe Johnson would be nice, but I have mixed feelings about giving up Green.Being slightly pessimisstic, if we keep him, he'll be average at best. The min we trade him howerver, he'll blow up (Murphy's law)

The thing is, I doubt Gerald Green will ever be as good of an all-around player as Joe Johnson, and if he does... it's 4 years away from now. Not to mention, Joe Johnson is only 25 years old right now as it is. Johnson is also by FAR the better all-around player than Rashard Lewis. Lewis is a good player, but he's not on Joe Johnson's level. Johnson is stronger, 3 times the defender Lewis is, he can play 3 positions, he creates for others, he can score in many other ways (85-90% of Lewis' game is his perimeter jumper), and he's 3-4 years younger. Not to mention we'd be getting the #11 pick to go along with him (Hawes? Noah, if he falls?). He may cost $3-4M more, but he's certainly the better basketball player.

good point. I do agree Joe is much more versatile than Rashard. Rashard is a great scorer aaaaand that's about it.like I said, I'm conflicted when it comes to GG.I doubt Noah would drop that far, Bobcats appear to like him but yeah we could still get someone of good value at #11. (hopefully not Hawes)I'd be happy with either move.

Joe Johnson is more well rounded than Lewis and not mention a better all around player than Green will turn out to be. If they get Williams and the #11 pick too, wow, do it, do it now.

Exactly, but Atlanta has not fully agreed to pull the trigger with Shelden being shipped out with it. We'll see how this plays out, but I am hoping that this deal goes through. It would be great to see Joe Johnson back in Boston where he belongs (STUPID Rick Pitino... STUPID Chris Wallace).

Lewis is the better rebounder, and I don't think Johnson is that much better in any other area of the offense. Plus, Pierce needs someone to knock down jumpers, not someone that plays exactly the same way he does offensively in Johnson. Also, Lewis is turning 28 this summer. Johnson is turning 26. That's only 2 years. Plus, he fits into the current team much better. If we can get Lewis AND keep Pierce, Al, and #5 then I say make that deal happen. If we have to trade the pick then go for Johnson.

Well if Williams was included dropping from #5 to #11 doesn't really matter. Also keep in mind getting JJ would take a lot of pressure off of Rondo because JJ is a good playmaker. F*ck you Pitino, damn. But anyways if we can get JJ/Williams/#11, I would be so happy.

:ranting: Rashard Lewis is NOT A 4! I hate that Celtic fans are talking about this rumor and talking about Rashard like he'd be a nice 4 in Boston... no. Just because he's 6'10'' doesn't mean he can play the 4. He's an average defender at best on the wing and he a below average rebounder for his size/length/athleticism. He's strictly a perimeter player that relies on his jumper too much, because he honestly doesn't do much else.

And yes, obviously picks 5 and 11 are different, but Joe Johnson is also a MUCH better all-around player than Johnson, we'd likely be getting Shelden in the deal to go along with it, and we can strengthen our bench with #11 or even ship that somewhere else for another deal.

I'd rather have Joe Johnson, Shelden Williams, and #11 than Rashard Lewis and #5.

Remember, we'd also have to give up much more to get Johnson.

Who compliments him better? I'd say the guy that can take the pressure off him, handle the ball, and create plays for himself as well as others... aka Joe Johnson. You said "the Celts need a perimeter player." Are you telling me Joe Johnson isn't a perimeter player? He can play all 3 perimeter positions, he can shoot the 3, and once again... HE CAN DEFEND.

Also, are you aware that Atlanta offered Joe Johnson and #11 for Theo, Delonte, and #5... and Danny turned it down? [IMG] He then called back and offered Green, but they'd have to throw in Shelden.

If we only had to move down six spots to get Johnson over Lewis than that's a better deal. Draft Thornton at #11 and have him play the 4.

It wouldn't be straight up, it would be part of that deal.

He's worth less to the Hawks than he is to us. Plus, if you add Sheldon then that clogs the middle with Al, Perk, Sheldon, Gomes, and whomever #11 is; most likely Hawes or Thornton. Meanwhile, suppose Allen doesn't recover that well, which is a distinct possibility. Who is the backup 2? Wally?

I'm also not convinced the difference between Lewis and Johnson is worth the difference between #11 + Williams and #5 + Gerald Green.

Why would you consider taking Corey Brewer at 5 if you're getting Rashard Lewis, who would want Gerald Green to stay, plus Wally? That's a worse SF logjam than Atlanta. You do have a point though, Gerald Green and #5 is better than #11 and Williams. No arguments there. If Ainge would have accepted the Johnson/#11 for West/Ratliff/#5 (and probably a small filler), that would have been great.

Also, it's Horford, not Hortford. Not a big deal, but I've seen you type that a few times and I had to say it.
