I think the best counter-argument to my point about Hood sucking in the playoffs is that despite him sucking statistically, all 3 of the teams he's played on have made it to the second round (assuming we win out against Thunder). And they all did it with him playing 15-25mpg. So he may suck statistically, and suck badly enough that both prior teams gave up on him, but he at least wasn't a deciding factor in playoff futility. His teams got into the second round while our teams without him were swept in the first. Outcomes matter. There was an open dunk in game 4 he blew and Mo rebounded the miss and Mo scored. So we got the bucket on the possession in spite of Hood's statistical failure. Perhaps Hood is the kind of intangible guy where the team succeeds with him failing.
Personally, I don't care about Hood's "production." Our bench is getting outscored by opposing benches all season long. Hood has not helped right the ship. Of course, he hasn't had a training camp under his belt (and Neil gave up 2 2nds to get him, do he'll probably be given a contract).
Yea I agree his defense been OK but I just liked in the next game that produces more points. If he can getting going like see him in pass then I don't see OKC even be in the ball game. I think it was game 2 when the bench had 26 and that what we need in this next game.
Average defender, scorer doesn't seem like it in the 20 mins he gets in the playoffs so far. Good attitude the last couple months we have him. Last year he messed up. And overall he has changed his game to getting more midrange shots, which is the opposite of what he should do. I seriously don't see anything good enough to keep him. He doesn't really help much.
lol. Hood had a great game. I was really happy to be wrong in this game. I think he is providing good defense when he's in there, and he really seemed to take advantage of opportunities tonight against a smaller player. This game has brought his playoff PER to 5.9 for this year. So....hopefully this is something he can build on.
We would have never seen this version of Hood if it wasn't for his teammates that carried him to the second round. Let's hope he can keep this up, we all know he's moody, but as long as he has a good mood let's ride him on the post and for the open jumper.
A good game? Do you mean good gameS? It's all good though. Yes, his D was impactful. 3 blocks! He's averaging 16ppg in the series.
Yes, you need to correct everyone on everything. Im sure hes happy that its still all good with you despite his "mistake".
I see this series is going to raise a lot of poster's PIR (Poster Insuperability Rating)... some really really strong showings today.
Do you have any tips on how I can raise my PIR? As an un-ignore-able mod, it might be fun to be more insufferable...
You've come to the right person because I'm completely insufferable. It comes down to the fundamentals: Offensiveness and Defensiveness. Offensiveness includes the showy things: pedantry, sarcasm, aggressiveness... and more advanced techniques like disingenuous magnanimity. Defensiveness includes a lot more subtle things only students of the game know: hounding, passive dismissal, irony. You have to know the rulebook, and use the ref's blindspots to your advantage; you can't get away with casual racism, sexism, and homophobia without a deep knowledge of the rules and how they're enforced. You can't go hard with explicit hate, but casual dog-whistling and bad-faith curiosity typically don't get called. It's a complete game, and we are an all-star group!
