<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Diawsome @ Jun 13 2007, 06:57 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Mutombo played in an era where there was a decent pool of centers in the league. He played in his prime with David Robinson, Patrick Ewing, Hakeem Olajuwan, Alonzo Mourning and Shaq, not to mention the likes of Karl Malone, Dennis Rodman and Charles Barkley all playing the 4. The only one on the list who you could put Mutombo ahead of would be Zo which means there were still 4 other centers ahead of him during his own peak years. Whether it is fair or not this is something that voters look at, where he ranked compared to his peers.</div>You put Dirk as a LOCK for the HoF, and not Mutombo? He played against some of the greatest centers int eh league, and still got all of those achievements. Plus being 2nd in the all time shot block list isn't anything easy. Dirk has had one MVP, while someone like Ben Wallace, is one of the best defensive players and rebounders this league has seen
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>2nd all time 3 pointers is not very impressive since he just shoots so many.</div>That's almost like saying Reggie Miller doesn't deserve to be there because he shot so many...Ray doesn't have all the accomplishments but he is still a great shooter. If he wasn't in the situation that he was in, he would be doing a lot better.

Yao Ming a 50-50 chance? Please, he is putting up great numbers as a center, and he can only get better. I'm not saying he will be the best center ever, but if you say that in 10 years Melo is a lock, you gotta go with Yao as well.

Dirk has never won any titles, sure he has an MVP, but plenty of MVP's don't make it in. Ray Allen is 2nd all time in 3 pointers and has the record for single season threes. If he wasn't on a sh*tty team all his career, he would have won a championship and if he gets traded he still can win one.</div>Actually no eligible MVP has ever missed the hall of fame :winkglasses:And Ray Allen has never been close to as good as Dirk.
If we're ranking Current players who are already in the HOF it would probably be pretty selective IE Kobe,Duncan,Shaq,Nash, maybe even Billups.

Well, weren't the Bucks an ECF team with him, Cassell and Robinson at one point? He really hasn't had any good enough teams to do anything with. Oh, his Sonics team from a couple years back was pretty good too.

Secondly, Rodman was arguably the greatest rebounder the game has ever seen, but he hasn't broken all of the rebounding records like Ray has with 3 pointers. And while Ray is mostly noted for his great shooting, he has more of an all around game than Rodman did, and a much better reputation (according to the Hall of Fame, the trustees are allowed to remove any candidate who "has damaged the integrity of the game of basketball").But as I said, there are still many years of oppertunity to elect Rodman to the HoF. He will definately be inducted IMO.
Amare and Marion could both make it. Providing STAT doesn't have another big injury I don't see him missing. Marion is more tricky, if he continues like he has been for another 5/6 years then I don't see how you could keep him out.

If that was the case guys like Richard Jefferson, Jason Richardson, Rashard Lewis, Jermaine O'Neal would be hall of famers. That just isn't the case. And Amare isn't either. Every good player isn't gonna make the hall of fame.

It's not out of the question to say that Marion will get 18k points & 10k + rebounds, 1900 steals & 1400 blocks. If he does that then I think he is HOF material.
