Oh I remember watching and thinking he couldnt throw in college so I thought it was bad pick to start with...
You trade down for a guy like that man... They wasted the potential value of that pick. They could've gotten that dude on day 2.
Do not compare him to Wilson, that’s unfair to Murray. He was a great player at Oklahoma last year, but once again let’s be real here... one year, lots of weapons, good head coach, extremely undersized. It’s probably unfair to Murray but his media appearances were historically awful too. Also, who’s to tell if he won’t just leave football to play baseball after 2-3 seasons if things go south fast? Bottom line, dangerous pick by Arizona. Even more dangerous considering they dealt Rosen who already had a season under his belt and has great potential (even if he is a jackass off the field).
It’s the NFL though, if he is YOUR guy, draft him before anyone else wants to. In all honesty, I expected the Patriots to pick Jones or perhaps move up and get him.
It's dumb. You trade down and get another asset. "It's the NFL though" isn't a good excuse for making a stupid move.
Believe he had/has an addiction to pain pills? He may be an ass, but I hope he turns his life around. I don’t like seeing people struggle with addiction.
He might turn it around. I mean he had the Cardinals offensive line protecting (or not protecting) him. Haha.
This is a good point. There are definitely some. For me I never once thought Russell looked very good, at least Leaf in College looked alright (IMO).
In fairness, that dude's body just broke down (possibly from extreme 'roid use), but yes - a bust nonetheless. Bosworth would like to say hi, too.
That's the difference. Leaf was a GREAT college QB. Don't forget, it was basically a 50-50 split amongst the scouting community who they liked better between Leaf and Manning that year.
To me saying, "It's the NFL" is even more reason to drop down and try to pick up more assets. Like it or hate it the NFL is about value, you have to get as much value as you can out of every asset you have. He would've been available later.
I don't remember it that way. Several scouts had Manning pegged as a football guy through-and-through. He lived and breathed football.
Context matters. Rosen didn’t have anyone outside of old Larry Fitzgerald, David Johnson (coming off injury), and a rookie Christian Kirk. Also, coaching staff was awful, offensive line was bad (sacked 45 times). You don’t give up on someone after a year.
