So, I've been seeing a few things on the web questioning the distance of Dame's shot. The national TV broadcast said 37'. CJ and a couple of other quotes mentioned 40'. Now I've seen a post saying that some people are questioning the 37' distance. I thought I'd take a crack at determining the truth of the matter as close as possible.

My method was to find this overhead view of the shot from a YouTube clip:

Dame is standing just slightly behind the extension of the "m" in moda and a bit in front of the outside edge of the pinwheel logo.

I drew a rectangle of a standard NBA court measuring 94' x 50' in AutoCad and then imported an image of the Blazers' floor onto that rectangle. I then positioned "Dame" as closely as I could to what I see in the screen shot.

The measurement from the center of the hoop to "Dame" that I come up with in AutoCad is 36' 8". So, I think the 37' rounded shot distance is accurate.

And, in case you're like me and just can't get enough of that shot, here's a clip of people celebrating it. BTW, how freaking many people take video of themselves watching a game?

And, for your added enjoyment, here's a screenshot of Felton's reaction to Dame's shot:

Admirable effort, but I believe the 37' figure was based off of overhead tracking and not really subject to interpretation.

I checked this independently using cruder methods (MS Paint) and got 36'9". So confirmed.

I was wondering when someone on here would try to determine the measurement accuracy. Buncha nerds!

Heres a real question about that shot. How many NBA players do you think are so happy that WB had Dame punk him in that series? Then wave goodbye to him.

WB is known for talking trash to everyone and my guess theres not a lot of sympathy for him and PG right now.

Well done e....! It was close enough I'd round it up to 37...the tip of the black point seemed just closer to his left heel to me than the graph but I've got old eyes and smudged glasses

my new fav part of this end sequence (excluding the actual shot of course) is when Dame is isoing PG and Seth is in front on the OKC bench and you can see him saying something to them before the shot, which I like to assume is something along the lines of:
"oh man, you guys done messed up now, you know my boy Dame hits them from there all day"

then the shot goes up, and in.

and Seth just turns to the bench and stares at them. cant see if he's talking or not, but you'd imagine him giving them the HUGE i told ya so's

id say next to nobody outside of his immediate family, and possibly not even them, give a flying fuck around being sympathetic to Russ and were more than happy to watch his bullshit backfire on the grandest stage possible.
