@dviss1 Ive said it before but Id love to watch a Rockets game with you and get your perspective on Harden / CP3... Ive seen plenty of “star rules” in the NBA but Ive never seen a tandem that does so much to just get calls and I feel like Harden is very gifted at drawing contact but some of the stuff he does I just dont get how he gets those calls. This GS / Houston series seems like will be decided by what the refs allow or dont allow and your perspective would just be awesome to hear.

Everyone from their players to coaches to fans seems convinced that the refs had it out against Houston. They think it's egregious and refs/Silver are out to get them.

    Talk about delusional.

Houston needs all those Reggie Miller kick-outs of their legs to be called fouls for them to win this series--they're trying to launch a PR campaign in the hopes the referees start giving it to them.

I think there were some missed undercuts... but that's just just karma. By the time the ref looks down, he's not sure if Harden fake-contorted his body or if it was a real foul. Everyone else is playing basketball while the Rockets are like a billionaire seeking tax loopholes in the NBA code.

Sorry, but this is just completely wrong.

Cardinal rule of refereeing an airborne shooter:

STAY WITH THE SHOOTER. This is refereeing 101.

The referee must watch the shooter jump then land BEFORE they look at the shot going in.

Watching the shot before he lands = bad refereeing

I wasn't saying the ref should be looking at the shot going in/out before looking at the landing. I was referring to what Steve Javie said: The ref often has a split second between
    (1) Looking up - Watching the act of shooting to see if the player is fouled during the shot or follow through.
    (2) Looking down - To see if the player's landing was invaded.

If the ref doesn't completely see the landing part because he's focusing too much on the "up" part, he may be guessing as to whether the defender undercut or the offensive player artificially expanded his landing area as Harden is known to do.

According to the NBA, the officials made the correct call there:

Depends on how you define 'decide'.
Everybody has a right to their opinion on the subject. If they try to force that opinion on others, that would be going too far but expressing it as an opinion is their God given right.

Sounds like the most significant missed call was when Steph bumped Harden out of bounds with a little over a minute left, and they called it a turnover on Houston instead of Curry fouling out of the game.

Wish I'd have heard him say that. It sounds stupid.

It's exceptionally easy to be positioned so you can see the entire shooter's body.

I see you say that a lot, but have you considered that the players are much bigger (blocking more sight lines) the action much, much faster (leaving one frequently of out position as alignments shift), and the shooting range much deeper (limiting good places to view all angles from) than what you're accustomed to reffing? It's not the answer to every situation, but my rule of thumb is, black and white answers are usually wrong. Gotta acknowledge the gray areas.

    Harden's 3pnt attempt with 10 seconds left.

Sure. But isn't it possible to have something in your field of view, but your mind is so focused on one thing that you kind of miss another? I've never reffed so I don't know. All I know is, since Harden and CP3 routinely artificially expand their landing area in attempt to draw fake fouls, I'm happy with yesterday's outcome. I would prefer that refs correctly called all undercuts and correctly called offensive fouls whenever there is contact accompanied by artificial kickouts & butt outs by the offensive player. That way they might quit doing this BS.

Ok. Took me a while to understand how to read that thing. I think Harden committed two offensive fouls on that play. (1) He pushed off. (2) He kicked his feet out on purpose into Green's space, creating fake contact.
