AZCentral.com<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Grant Hill sounds like a man with no plans of retiring and two priorities for his next team: a championship contender and a light practice slate. That sounds like Phoenix.Hill, a free agent, talked Wednesday with Dan Patrick on Patrick's ESPN Radio show about wanting to be a champion. A postseason ABC analyst gig has put him at the NBA Finals, but he would rather get there playing. Patrick asked Hill to choose between San Antonio and Phoenix based on style fitting his game and title chances."Best suit my style? Phoenix, and I think both teams are the two best teams in the league," Hill said. "But if you want an answer, I'll say Phoenix . . . Suiting my style would be an adjustment (with the Spurs)."The Suns are interested in Hill, who may be willing to take a minimum contract on the heels of his seven-year, $92million deal. Suns assistant coach Alvin Gentry coached Hill for five of his six Detroit seasons, including 21/2 as head coach. He may tell Hill about the NBA's lightest practices and coach Mike D'Antoni's belief in saving legs for the Suns' up-tempo style.</div>Link
Like I said on ASFN, as long as D'Antoni starts using his bench (I think he said he was going to) then I'm all for it. I wanted Rose to get some playing time this year, but Hill is better so yeah I'm in favor of this. A good experienced role player is a nice thing to have and it gives us someone who'll drive to the basket and get to the free throw line. He'd help us against the Spurs...IF he gets PT. Then we could try and use James Jones and picks to move up in the draft. Hill would be a nice upgrade over Jones. He can't shoot the three, but neither can James Jones when it matters.

We are making an offer for him on Sunday I believe... I think he would be a nice pick-up. He wants to come here, but they better offer him a little more than the veterans minimum with how much he's being offered elsewhere. We can't let this turn into the Salmons situation. The guy wants to come here, don't disrespect him. I'm a fan of his so I hope we get him. Gambo said if we get Hill, then this would be our last move and he's the best player we have a chance at. And with Tucker we'd have a slightly bigger rotation(if D'Antoni uses him, he better or I'll be calling for his head) and slightly better D for the 3rd straight off-season and I'll be happy. If we don't get Hill we will probably pick up someone else who turns out to be mistake like Banks was and we lose early in the playoffs again.
Tucker is our first round pick.So now that Toronto signed Kapono they are out. SA is also only offering the vet minimum, but I don't feel good about this.
I missed that pick I guess.. thought you were talking about our exRaptor PJ Tucker. Hopefully your tucker does better then ours did
Hoopshype and I guess an Orlando radio source have said that Grant Hill chose to sign with the Suns for the minimum.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>From HOOPSWORLD.comFree Agency: Hill Picks PhoenixBy Basketball NewsJul 5, 2007, 11:07Orlando Free agent Grant Hill has chosen the Phoenix Suns as his next destination. In an exclusive interview with Basketball News' Jarrod Rudolph, Hill confided that he has decided to join Phoenix, and will be signing a new contract with the Suns on July 11th.In a wide ranging interview that will be available in the next few hours, Hill discussed why he chose the Suns, and why he really did not give the Magic much consideration.Hill is rumored to have agreed to a contract for the NBA minimum, just over $1 million for a player with his NBA experience.Look for Jarrod's interview with Grant Hill and more as it develops.? Copyright 2007 by HOOPSWORLD.com, a Basketball News Exclusive</div>I like this signing. He should start in place of James Jones, or else come off the bench as the 7th man(since D'Antoni barely plays KT.)I can't believe this is all they are doing though. What an uneventful off-season. On to the summer league!
Nice signing but I expect Hill to play limited minutes throughout the regular season. I don't necessarily think with his ankles and age, he can play in the Suns system all year and expect a contribution in the playoffs. I bet his minutes are watched to an extent, but nice signing because he took the vet and can still play.
