Game 4’s crew better set the tone with Jokic, he should not be allowed to push off, lean on, and grab all game long. Idk how he played 65 minutes and only had 4 fouls last night. It’s getting ridiculous.

As a fan I don't know how I feel about all of this, were some of those plays basketball plays? Well no. Going after a guys injury is pretty common in sports though and Ive heard portland fans / news people for days say to attack Murray’s various injuries. Jokic and others on Denver were definitely going after Kanter and it sucks, but that is definitely part of the game, now did they cross the line between “testing” the guys injury and trying to injure him? I really don't know, probably. Definitely shouldve been a foul.

Upon further consideration I bet what happens is an early foul will be called on Jokic in an attempt to make sure things don't get out of hand. Not much more though. I thought his pick on Harkless in the first minute was also really close. He seemed to extend his arms out to hit Harkless harder than I believe is allowed. I was ok with that until they called a cheap ass foul on Collins in the 3rd for doing far less..

I dont mind gaming an injury. Meaning I dont mind if they exploit it by attacking that side of the court where his injury lessens the likleihood of defending adequately.

What i do have a problem with is when they intenionally try to injure it further such as jokic did. That wasnt a box out attempt, that was an attempt to injure.

Exploit the injury like a real basketball player would, not like an asshole.

Yeah, the screen looked rough in real time but jokic looked like he stood his ground. Until I saw the replay and saw the extending of the arms, i thought a no call was fine. However, it was not. And seeing far less called later was bad.

Yeah I agree, like I said that probably crossed the line, but you know it is literally part of their game plan to go after his shoulder, Im sure in their mind it was just a really aggressive box out. I honestly dont think that was the worst thing Jokic did to Kanter. At one point in the 4th Jokic was hooking Kanters arm and yanking on it repeatedly anytime they got close to each other.

    This is a joke, right?

I ask this not because I don’t think it wasn’t a dirty move (it certainly was), but the Blazers never have nor ever will be NBA “darlings” and given the same treatment that some franchises are....

Im just asking because I dont know the answer but after the game what would we expect the NBA to do? I cant remember a guy being suspended because they replayed something and thought it was a flagrant foul.

They sure in heck wont be suspending Jokic in the playoffs for that, the most that will happen is maybe they tell Jokic not to do that.

In terms of intent, this was worse than the Simmons hit on Lowry. The hit on Kanter was pre-meditated, while the other happened during a tangle that Lowry initiated.

Fuck Malone for equating this with Kanter getting PUSHED into Craig the previous game, or any screens we have set. Maybe we need to have our guys to box out Craig by starting with an elbow to the face or by punching Murray in the thigh to see if he gets the difference.

This is the downside to all the twaddle about bringing in "high character guys". Not one guy stood up for Kanter and sent the Nugs a message. Call me old-fasioned, but I see nothing "high character" in not standing up for your team-mates and in giving free reign to bullies. If there is an after life, Mo Lucas is weeping in shame. He would have put the Serbian sleazebag on his ass. Kermit Washington would have sent him for stitches.

I do believe we should’ve sent in an enforcer like Meyers, but I don’t think it’s wise for rotation guys to get in confrontations... we need every minute out of them and they know that.

Lillard and other Blazers need to keep an eye out for it and confront Jokic when does it. Then refs will be forced to review it.

Jokic actually looked around first to make sure refs were looking the other way and then cocked his elbow and drove his arm/elbow/shoulder into Kanter. It's premeditated. It's a flagrant 2.

Flagrant “2” (FFP2) - unnecessary and excessive contact committed by a player against an opponent. The opposing team is awarded two (2) free throws and possession and the player committing the foul is automatically ejected.
