LA Times<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>The Lakers and Pacers have stalled on trade talks involving the six-time All-Star forward-center because the Lakers do not want to give up both Andrew Bynum and Lamar Odom in a swap for O'Neal and power forward Troy Murphy, a source said. The Lakers would also include Kwame Brown in the trade.O'Neal, 28, is consistently among the league leaders in points, rebounds and blocked shots. He averaged 19.4 points, 9.6 rebounds and 2.6 blocked shots last season, the continuation of a career that has been on a solid track since he was traded from Portland to the Pacers in 2000.</div>LinkThis may not be too pleasing to Mr. Bryant.

With all the Progress Bynum is making I can understand why they dont want to let him go. He is really the only bright spot of young talent the Lakers have since Caron butler was traded.

I want O'neal in purple and gold as much as the next Lakers fan but can you really blame the FO for not wanting to make that deal? We'd be getting raped. I'm still holding out hope that we can get JO and Tinsley for Odom, Kwame, the 19th and Sasha.

Getting "raped" is exxagerating. IMO, Bynum is being very overrated...Yeah hes got potential, but that doesn't mean everything. In this you get rid of a bad contract, you get a double-double player in Murphy and a allstar in O'Neal. Yall will be a much more complete team if yall did this trade.

If we end up trading Odom AND Bynum. I can't help but feel like we are the ones getting ripped off. Lamar Odom, to me anyway, is an all-star calibur player who had bad luck with injuries last season. Also, if you look at stats, Bynum has roughly the same statistics as KG had at the same age of 19. I'm not saying he will be as good a player as KG but if this is indeed the trade that is going to happen(which is what it sounds like it would be) then I feel like we are getting ripped off more than the Pacers. Especially if we end up throwing in another 1st rounder in another possible package and just getting Tinsley...ew. JO is just as injury prone as Lamar, but of course is a great player. Either way, Lakers management has to make a deal like this more to please Kobe than anything.

If the Lakers are going to pull in any player to please Kobe, they will have to trade Odom and/or Bynum. The options the Lakers have don't seem too plentiful as far as players they can trade for. Right now, it seems as though it's either O'Neal or Artest that the Lakers are going to be able to get. If I were the Lakers, I'd rather get O'Neal, who is going through rehab, rather than Artest, who is a loose cannon. They are going to have to pull someone in, and I think this is the best deal they are going to get.

If the Lakers are putting Lamar Odom in the package I think they're giving up too much. It is a tough decision to swap potential for a veteran by giving Bynum, but Odom has done so many things for them this season in that triangle. We'll see though, if they can keep Lamar and still get JO, but it will definitely be hard.

There is no way they can match O'Neal's contract without trading Odom, or Kobe.

Yeah, the Lakers have to trade Odom and Bynum for O'Neal and Murphy if they want to keep #24. Bryant is pretty pissed and bringing in an all-star is the only way they can prove to him they're dedicated to winning now. If they want to keep Bynum so much then they're better off trading Kobe to the Bulls for a nice package of young players. I understand that Bynum may become great, but what's worse: losing Bynum or losing Kobe?

I really do not want Odom and Bynum, I really cannot tell you how much I don't want them. I want draft picks. Contrary to you guys's posts, Murphy AND JO would be a ripoff to the Pacers. Why get rid of both of them?
