We're playing too much hero ball. Dame plays hero ball. CJ plays hero ball. We just take turns over who is playing hero ball. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't work. It has shot us into and out of and then back into every game. Tonight it couldn't pull us out. We do not have a balanced offense though.
What Terry Stotts said further supports my post above that Blazer coaches should have played Meyers in the game to score some swish3s, rebound, set screens, and get open shots for Dame, CJ, Seth, and Rod. His quote when asked about the game-losing 3rd Q is: "We didn’t have a lot of pop in the third quarter, we were a little flat and that gave them some momentum. We went into the locker room at halftime with that momentum and we kind of gave it away.” Let's count on the Blazer video review process reaching the conclusion that we missed the opportunity to win by not playing Meyers in that 3rd Q, and will not make that mistake again. The Blazers can beat DEN, as our 2 wins have demonstrated, but we need consistent energy, especially rebounds and defense, in all 4 Q, and must make substitutions actively (as DEN did in Game 4) to better optimize the use of Blazer talent. With more effective coaching, the Blazers are in position top win this series, the WCF, and the NBA Championship!
