<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Jerry Buss met with his unhappy $88.6-million employee, Kobe Bryant, for a get-together Friday between owner and superstar in the somewhat surprising setting of Spain.

They had spoken by phone two weeks ago, a few days after Bryant asked to be traded, but this was a longer, more emotional conversation.

Buss wanted to appeal to the nine-time All-Star, reminding him that trades take time to develop and that winning remains the focus of the organization, but Bryant voiced concerns about the direction of the franchise and reiterated his demand to be traded, said a source with knowledge of the situation.

"That's the message that came out of it," the source said.

Team sources vehemently insisted there were no plans to trade Bryant, and they were still hopeful that a peaceful solution could be reached. Bryant and Buss are expected to resume their dialogue in the near future.</div>
And the saga continues. When I get home at 1-2 pm, I'm expecting a report saying that Kobe wants to stay.

Kobe needs to make up his mind already. How does he expect people to take him seriously when he keep changing his mind every other day? He is putting John Kerry to shame when it comes to wavering in the wind.

Kobe had made up his mind because he thought the Lakers were going to aquire O'Neal. Now that rumors are spreading that the front office isn't going to make the trade, Kobe wants out. The team keeps telling Kobe they are going to improve their roster and bring in some stars, but they keep backing out of it. They really aren't being smart right now.

As much as Kobe Loves L.A he loves winning even more and if the Lakers wont make any big deals to make themselves a finals contender team Kobe Wants OUT!

They have had plenty of chances too (Baron Davis, Jermaine O'Neal, Carlos Boozer), but they won't pull the trigger on any deals. Kobe is doing exactly what Arenas and Gasol are doing right now, which is trying to get their front office to put better teams around him, but Kobe is the only one really getting all the negative criticism.

Kobe never flip flopped, his 2nd interview on the day he asked to be traded was somewhat misquoted. Basically he said that he WANTS to stay in LA, but with the direction the team is going in it just won't be done.

He reiterated he still wants to be traded so he can win, and then later says he would love to stay in LA but seemed very pessimistic about enough getting done for him to stay. That basically backs up what I said before.

The Lakers reportedly do not want Bryant to remain within the Western Conference and that the Knicks are unlikely to have enough talent to get a deal done, which makes Chicago the prohibitive favorites. Bucher reports some GM's expect a trade to be completed before the draft.</div>Can anyone explain why he would list the Knicks as a team he wants to play for?

The Suns huh? I guess he shares the same love for Amare that Amare has for him.

If this is actually true you would have to love this as a Bulls fan. New York has nothing to offer and as soon as the Suns say Amare is off limits the Lakers want nothing to do with them leaving Chicago as the only team left.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Justice @ Jun 17 2007, 02:55 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>They are in New York.Yeah man, that's all I got.</div>That is the only reason. Playing in a big market like New York opens up endorsement opportunities worth millions that he just wouldn't get in places like Memphis, Oklahoma City, Charlotte, Portland, or Seattle. Nothing against those cities, it's just that places like LA, NY, and Chicago are more lucrative. Seriously though, who are the Knicks going to trade for him? Marbury, Frye, and #23? They simply don't have enough to get the deal done without blowing up their team leaving Kobe to do it by himself. The Bulls are really the only option. They have cap room and plenty of young talent to make it worthwhile.

Phoenix may be able to get him for Marion, Barbosa, and a future draft pick if Chicago doesn't want to give up too much.

I doubt it happens also, especially without giving up Amare, but having arguable the best center, swingman and point guard next year would be insane.82-0 baby! [IMG]
