Maybe its incorrect but he has always seemed like a bit of a headcase to me, but if he fell in line behind Dames leadership I think thats huge upgrade over turner. Of course I think air might be a huge upgrade over ET...
Number one more likely vonleh won't want to come back here especially how Stotts use him I always thought he was wrong too. I don't think Davis will be back due to olshey didn't want him last year. Now I due believe that Kanter or Hood will be back next year. It might be one year contract and work out a better deal when Turner Harkless Leonard contracts expires.
This Last loss was like a diver with no air in the tank. In tonight's game, the first 10 minutes will tell me a lot about their hunger to waste the Nuggets. Every available player should play minutes. I did not see Skal yet. Jake must be exiled.
We'll see. That video of he and Jonathan Yim was pretty heartwarming. He still is in touch with our staff. You think he's not in touch with Terry? I think there's a good possibility that he'd come back if given a defined role.
Yea we just have to wait but if he define role with team before we probably wouldn't have trade him. I like vonleh has a player we sure good use is rebounding now. You still can good conversation with your old coach back and forth it doesn't mean Stotts like him as player. If he did he wouldn't use has he did when he was here. But there going big decision this off season for olshey with not to much money to play with.
Blazers don't have a 2nd round pick till 2022, and they don't have their 2nd in 2023. Offering a 2nd 4 drafts from now won't carry any leverage besides all that, Brooklyn being willing to take on Faried and Arthur doesn't mean anybody will be willing to take on Turner
Their 2020 2md round pick is theirs if its 55th or better. So they could trade their 2020 2nd if its 31-55, and if its 56th or worse, it doesnt convey (at that point its meaningless anyway).
I can point out other moves. They happen all the time. Obviously - different year, different market, no teams with straight up cap space at the draft. But even Turner and the 25th pick for Plumlee, J.Adams, and one of their 2nds is a possibility that could save us $6M.
Huh? Their payroll would be $120M, which is apx. $19M below the apron. So they would have more freedom to use it depending on other moves. It could also be the precurosor to another trade freeing up more money (ex. Meyers Leonard and a 2nd to Detroit for Langston Galloway). With that example, we'd be $24M below the hard cap. Then: Use Full-MLE with $14M remaining to resign Aminu, Hood (non-bird), and/or Layman. (Aminu for $7M, Hood for $4M, Layman for $3M)? Probably not enough for Jake so: Trade Galloway down for someone like Patrick Patterson to free up another $2M to do the above. Waive and stretch Galloway, freeing up another $5M to do the above.
Portland is at 127M (Nurk's bonus will be "likely" next season and count against the cap) subtracting 6M leaves Portland at 121m the cap-holds of Aminu-Hood-Kanter-Curry-Layman are 24.2M. That puts Portland at 145M which is 7M over the apron. Aminu's cap-hold alone is 13.2M and that would put the Blazers only 4M below the apron. Even if the re-sign Aminu right off the bat for say 8M they'd only be 9M below the apron for 11 players. That kills the full-MLE right there and yeah, I know, the Blazers will find all these hypothetical trades to build enough margin...except I don't believe they will now, they could renounce the rights to Aminu. a couple of roster charges would put them at 123M. Re-sign Hood and they'd be somewhere in between 126-127M. That would leave them 11-12M below the apron. Use the full-MLE on Kanter...2-3M below the apron. Find a cheap vet and they just might squeeze under the apron...and have almost no flexibility next season and the cost of that MLE would be Aminu, Curry, Layman, and the 25th pick. Seems pretty high too many contortions just to go from a 5.5M MLE to a 9M MLE
If youre going to keep Aminu, you likely sign him right away for less than his cap hold. We'll renounce Curry. Cap hold for Kanter? He'll have none. Hes essentially a FA thats not ours. Were not going to keep a cap him him to keep his non-bird rights. Laymans cap hold is also smaller than what wed likely resign him for. So cap holds dont affect the feasibility of clearing enough space. We wouldnt have to renounce Jake or Layman, and Curry is gone regardless, so he's not an opportunity cost. And two simple trades is not "contorted". Theres also other possibilities like this. I also wasnt dicsussing the likelihood of the hypothetical, Im discussing the potential outcomes of the hypothetical.
Im gonna say it and you guys can beat me up for it. Maybe having Hood, and Zach on the bench isnt so bad. They get to play vs Denvers bench in their first stint, and get into a rhythm before seeing their starters. Now Aminu and Harkless have not been particularly good this series, no doubt, but IF they go on to round 3, you probably dont want their confidence completely shattered by being benched, and also if their your guys off the bench, whose going to score on the bench unit? I say definitely give Hood and Zach more minutes and maybe start Zach at the 4 instead of Aminu but having a good solid bench is not such a bad thing.
This is a huge understatement. They have been horrible. They have been worse than horrible. They're not just bad on offense, but also horrible on defense. It's not a coincidence that we're getting slapped around when Chief and Mo are in the game, meanwhile we're pulling away with Zach and Hood.
Starting Collins allows us to put him on Millsap and control the game from the beginning. Starting Hood means they'd probably have Murray on him and he can dominate him right away. We can alter the rotation on the back side to compensate for the bench.
