I posted this in another thread, but this needs its own thread. Quick way to piss off the basketball gods. https://www.kxl.com/not-so-fast-denver-nuggets-already-selling-finals-tickets/ Denver, Colorado – In an email sent to Denver Nuggets fans, the team already started selling tickets for the Western Conference Finals. Despite the fact that they are still playing the Portland Trail Blazers in the Western Conference Semifinals. The Blazers won Game Six at the Moda Center Thursday night to force a final Game Seven in Denver on Sunday, Mother’s Day. The Denver Nuggets front-office may have counted their chickens before their hatched? Who knows? It might’ve been motivation for the Blazers last night. The Nuggets were already looking past the second-round. In that email sent to Nuggets fans, Denver was offering fans an exclusive pre-sale for the next round. Someone snapped a screen shot of the ad and posted it on social media. Need some motivation for Sunday Rip City? Here you go…
I thought this was standard. I've seen teams do this pretty commonly. It's not taking for granted they'll win, it's getting started on the sales in a potentially condensed timeline, rather than trying to do it all in a couple of days after Game 7 is over. They issue refunds if they lose Game 7. Portland should be doing it too.
ANY Kingspeed jinx has NOTHING on this shit. They just signed their own doom. They are going down....
A lot of people have said that other teams do this, but nobody has been able to show any other team doing this but Denver.
Portland wouldnt have to "get a jump" on ticket sales, because itd sell out immediately. Maybe the nuggets need 6 days to sell out a WCFs game
If Houston wins tonight and Sunday and we win Sunday then the Moda Center would have games on Tuesday and Thursday. Same for Denver. That's a pretty quick turnaround so I kind of get it.
I don't know how NBA teams do it, but the Timbers ask season ticket holders to either opt in or opt out of claiming their tickets for the playoffs. You are either all in or all out as once you agree you are locked in to paying for each playoff game. They only charge when the game is played. If Blazers do it that way, I can't imagine they had many people opt out so they already have a large base of fans with tickets.
