<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Phoenix Suns' forward Shawn Marion's name has surfaced in trade rumors with the Detroit Pistons, in addition to the Boston Celtics. The Pistons would send forward-center Rasheed Wallace to Phoenix. This idea would be conflicting for Phoenix. Wallace's skills are a good fit, but his on-court behavior contrasts with the club's emphasis on character. But even if the Suns were ready to make that deal, would the Pistons be willing? Marion is a small forward, the same position played by Detroit's Tayshaun Prince, but could be asked to play power forward to make the Pistons more athletic.Source: Arizona Republic</div><span style="font-family:Arial">Wow, this would be perfect for two teams in need of a shakeup. Rasheed Wallace and Amare Stoudemire could be a nasty combination. Phoenix would actually have a solid big man core, one of the few things they were missing in recent years. As for Detroit, it's not as helpful. They already have Tayshaun Prince, who is a Shawn Marion clone. The only thing that would make sense for Detroit, is putting Shawn Marion at Power Forward.</span>http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/rumors/post/Su...-?urn=nba,36200
This has been brought up a couple times now. Joey D pretty much wrote it off though, saying they wanted too much.
Yeah, it's been talked about in both team forums. Wallace for Marion straight up is not good at all and the Pistons don't really need Marion on that team and they'd have to give up more and they don't have the extra pieces to give up.
This articles states no willingness on the Pistons' part to deal Wallace to Phoenix. Dumars realizes that Wallace is the second most important player on the Pistons, behind Billups. Not to mention Rasheed is a beast on defense.
I think sheed is overrated at this time anyways. A couple years ago he was a post-up guy with an outside shot. Now he has reversed his roles, becoming more of a shooter. The Pistons seem to always struggle in paint scoring and this guy was their only threat in there. As for a conflict at SF if the Pistons had Marion and Prince, doesn't Marion already play some PF in Pheonix's run and gun style?
In my opinion, Shawn Marion is better than Rasheed Wallace at every aspect of the game (maybe not shooting threes though). He's just 3-4 inches shorter.I would like the trade straight up, but Prince and Marion are very similar. Prince is pretty much untouchable in trades as well.
