http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/465...brandan_wright/ Look at that article.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Wright has been compared to the second overall pick of the 2005 NBA Draft, Marvin Williams, who also went to North Carolina."We're two different players," Wright said. "He's more a small-forward type of guy. When I was first recruited to North Carolina, I studied what he did as a freshman. My role on the team was different than his. He played with all those great players (on an NCAA championship team). "We've definitely talked about it. Wherever I go, I will bring a different aspect."</div> Where do people dream this crap up? I can't tell you how many draft articles I've read where I've heard these stupid comparisons. Anyone who knows anything knows Marvin Williams and Brandan Wright have absolutely nothing in common....Ugh...it's just frustrating seeing this crap everywhere. I swear to god the NBA media is the stupidest and most ignorant of all the major sports. Even the ESPN guys make these kind of blunders....I just don't get it at all.

I took it as they were saying players with good freshman years who are going to be taken high.

They weren't comparing them necessarily as players, but they were saying that both came out after 1 year (UNC, mind you), both very raw, and both may get taken very high because of their raw potential.

They were comparing them as players....this is not the only place I've seen it in print. People keep bringing it up and Brandan has to explain how he's a very different player....I don't get how you guys don't see it. And thanks CB32 for reminding me they both when to UNC. Didn't know that.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>They weren't comparing them necessarily as players, but they were saying that both came out after 1 year (UNC, mind you), both very raw, and both may get taken very high because of their raw potential.</div> I didn't remember seeing anything about that in that article. Thats what you think.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Wright has been compared to the second overall pick of the 2005 NBA Draft, Marvin Williams</div> Seems pretty cut and dry to me.

It could mean a lot of things. You can compare them in several ways.- They both went to UNC- They both came out of college as Freshmen- They both were projected high - Wright is projected in many mock drafts to go to the Hawks. So, that statement you posted doesn't necessarily mean they were being compared as players. Although, that could be what the article is referring to.

I know they were comparing them as players, but all I was saying is the statement you posted:<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Wright has been compared to the second overall pick of the 2005 NBA Draft, Marvin Williams</div>It wasn't as cut and dry as you said it was, and I can see how people can think the other way.

That's the way YOU look at this. To me, all it is saying is that they are both raw freshman going to get picked high after 1 year in college, based on potential alone.

    <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>And thanks CB32 for reminding me they both when to UNC. Didn't know that.</div>
You're welcome, dickhead. I was just saying it in general, you don't have to be an ass about it.

I agree with BCB, it's pretty cut and dry here, and idiotic. Marvin Williams and Brandan Wright? Similar? Ha!

It's not cut and dry at all, they didn't say "Well Brandan Wright used to lay the ball up like this, in the exact same way as Marvin Williams did," or they didn't say "there playing style is similar in the fact that Brandan Wright and Marvin Williams both played liket his." I haven't seen one print where it says they played similar, and if BCB has seen it as much as he says he is, then point out the article where his game and basketball play is compared to Marvin Williams.I believe they are just saying that he is a high risk, high reward type guy just like Marvin Williams was, who came out of UNC as a freshmon like Marvin Williams did with alot of untapped Potential that will have to be learned in the NBA. Which is completely true, sure they play different positions and have different playing styles, they are/were both in similar situations in those regards.

yeah, those are obvious comparrisons, and we're not denying them, but it seems pretty cut and dry that they were comparing their games, look at the quote

Wright has been compared to the second overall pick of the 2005 NBA Draft, Marvin Williams, who also went to North Carolina. It doesn't say anything about them being compared in playing styles, it just said they drew comparisons. That could easily be talking about comparisons in how similar their situations and circumstances are going into the draft, as much as talking about playing styles. It's not cut and dry at all.

Its hilarious how the title says that they are being compared, then in the article Wright goes on to say that they are different players, even playing different positons. What a joke!

Ugh, I'm not just talking about the article. I've read in multiple newspapers the comparison, even in the Milwaukee papers after Wright worked out the writers were saying that he's very similar to Marvin Williams (as players), thats the reason I brought this up.
