<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>A source close to Chris Wallace has confirmed to me that the press conference will be at the beginning of the week (maybe Monday) to announce that Chris Wallace from the Boston Celtics will join the Grizzlies as General Manager. Chris Wallace will be in town sometime tomorrow, so say hello if you see him. I will have more on the hire later. I am very skeptical of this hire, but you gotta give the guy a chance and hope for the best I suppose. This was Jerry West's recommendation, I know that for certain. I would not be surprised if West stays will the team in some capicity, maybe an advisor or consultant. Cheers. cvernon.com= where news breaks every once in a while. bookmark it.</div>To Be Named Early Next WeekSome people who are ignorant on him are going to freakout, "OH MY GOSH, WHY DID WE GET THE GM OF THE 2ND WORST TEAM!!!?!?!?!?!?". But fact is, what Chris Wallace has done in Boston as far as getting young good players in there, being a smart drafter etc. is pretty good. Theres probably stuff hes done that isnt so good(he traded for Telfair)but I wanna give this guy a chance. Anyways, from a GM standpoint theres only so much a GM can do to make the players he brings in work together...thats the coaches job(point of saying that, Wallace shouldnt be completely blamed for Celtics record). Im just happy we didnt hire Kiki...
Well, now Im seeing stuff saying that Mark Jackson has been interviewed again and the decision isnt made yet...I dunno...
sometimes your words just hypnotize me....Hypnotized Minds is located in Memphis, ran by Three 6 Mafia, which Jordan Houston(Juiceman) is located is a member of, "Jordan"-"Houston"...Michael Jordan and the Houston Rockets won 8 Championships combined the the '90s. So thats good news for Memphis I connect random stuff in my mind sometimes...
Sorry to break it to you guys but Chris Wallace is not a good GM. Ainge is responsible for the talent we have now. Wallace was the GM for the Celtics during the "Pitino/Ainge" era transition. He promised Gilbert Arenas at #11 and didn't pick him, instead picking Kedrick "Fatty" Brown. Friggin idiot.Wallace doesn't have much pull as far as the draft is concerned and trades here anymore. That falls on Ainge
I don't understand why Wallace was kept here after how ridiculously poorly he did before the Ainge era. Ainge is responsible for everything, Wallace/Pitino were responsible for the mistakes before hand. All the draft picks, all the scouting, all the deals... all Ainge. Wallace is terrible.
Hopefully after being in Boston for 10 years, he'll come to Memphis, get culture shock and turn into a great GM. Thatll be the shiz..Anyways with Barone still being in the front office I still feel confident, Barone shouldve been made GM anyways... He knows the team better than anyone...
I just watched the press conference, and Jerry West gave a little pep talk and kindve got me feeling a bit better...then Wallace went "im glad to be a ....what are they called..memphians?...oh okay, Im glad to be a Memphian" I dunno, im trying not to judge him...he said hes not the "czar" type, he said that Iavaroni and his staff will have a major say in the organizations moves. He also said that he has learned from his experience to draft by talent...on draft day, completely forget about the needs(which he made a good case for), but draft the best player. He also talked a bit about Brewers great attitude and how he played street ball with his kid and his kids friends. So it wouldnt surprise me to see us take Corey Brewer...who I personaly think is going to be a all-star. Jerry West also said hes not going to be in the office after the draft process, said hes not going to get paid, said his on-record basketball career is over....however, he said hes a incredibly loyal person and if Wallace, Iavaroni or Heisley ever needs any advice, or his connections and resources, he will always be available for the Grizzlies organization.
So far, he hasnt done anything stupid, and I must say, from what his says about his image of the Griz, im starting to think hes not as bad as the Celtic fans said he was. Im getting sick of his football analogies though...Heres a couple interviews with Chris Wallace since the drafthttp://www.sports56whbq.com/upload/file/Ch...llace062907.mp3http://www.grizzliesinfo.com/grizzlies/med...sser-070629.mp3This is a phone-conference with Mike Conleyhttp://www.grizzliesinfo.com/grizzlies/med...sser-070628.mp3
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Kedrick Brown doesn't deserve to walk through life being known as a bust. It wasn't his fault. He played two years at junior college and was a fine but not highly sought after prospect. But then he caught the eye of Celtics GM Chris Wallace, who had picks #10, #11, and #21 in the 2001 draft. Much like the Trailblazers promise to Sebastian Telfair, the Brown promise went above and beyond the call of common sense. When everyone heard rumors of a promise to Brown, the assumption was that it would be the Celtics pick at #21, not #11. But no, Chris Wallace, in order to keep Brown from working out for other teams, offered up the Celtics 2nd lottery pick for Brown. Making matters more awkward is that Joe Johnson fell in the Celtics' lap at #10 so they ended up taking both Johnson and Brown, despite already having Paul Pierce. While most fans were debating which much needed point guard the Celtics would be adding (Tony Parker vs. Jamaal Tinsley vs. Omar Cook), the Celtics drafted two more swingmen. But the story doesn't end there. Later, during Brown and Johnson's rookie season, Chris Wallace struck a deal with Phoenix for Rodney Rogers and Tony Delk. The Suns were willing to take back either Johnson or Brown and let Wallace pick who he sent and who he kept. Sticking with his initial inexplicable love, Wallace opted to send Joe Johnson to Phoenix and hold onto Kedrick Brown. The choice was a disastrous one as Rodney Rogers would leave as a free agent at the end of that season while, two years later, Kedrick Brown would be nothing more than filler in the deal for Ricky Davis and Chris Mihm. Four years after Chris Wallace's promise, Kedrick Brown was out of the league. But that's not even the worst part of it. The worst part is that the reason the Celtics had the Nuggets pick that season was because they exercised their option on it. They could have taken the 11th pick that year or waited until 2002 or 2003. If Chris Wallace had shown a little patience, the 2003 draft would have featured the Celtics, and not the Nuggets, choosing between Carmelo Anthony, Chris Bosh, and Dwyane Wade in 2003.</div>
So Wallace made a terrible move because hes not a physic? If he knew the '03 draft was going to be like that then he wouldve never made that deal....you can scrape up stuff like that on most GMs. Im the gonna judge the guy as a bad GM until he makes a bad move as the Grizzlies GM. From what I understand, hes the type who makes decisions with the input of coaches and other important members of the organization. So what im saying is maybe its Bostons front office who arent so good and you cant put all the blame on Wallace. I dont know if you knew this, but just cause your GM it doesn't mean you make the decisions by yourself with nobodys say....alotve peoples opinions and thoughts go into it...

Like I said, hes said on several occasions that hes doesn't soley make the decisions, that everybody in the organization as far as coaches, scouting etc. has their opinions put into the equation. Im not going to sya hes a bad GM until he makes a bad move as the Grizzlies GM.
