There were a lot of illegal screens that were not called.

But you should be more upset with Terry than the refs or our players.

This MF shoulda called a timeout RIGHT after they got the lead in single digits, change strategy FROM DOING THE SAME FUCKING PICK AND ROLL WHERE WE'RE GETTING TRAPPED....

    Listen people...

    Don't be upset with Dame.

It's not really his fault that we had to make that last play.

The blame is to be placed SQUARELY on Terry's shoulders and frankly I'm on board with shipping him out.

Fucking Terry... Made my son double facepalm and almost cry... The FUCK WERE YOU DOING in that 3rd quarter????

WHY THE FUCK IS MYERS LEONARD IN THE GAME IN THE 4TH INSTEAD OF KANTER OR COLLINS????

Cool, way to make it about me instead of the actual discussion.

I actually used to really like Stotts.

Funny how the better the team does the more things you seem to dislike about this team. :bgrin:

Could you just hear the outcry if Stotts ran a play that took the ball out of Dame's hands? Even more so after the OKC series?
Maybe run a weave and hand off with a dribble drive and dish to Harkless in the corner?
Now to Mo's credit he just made one that got them a win. But if he misses it would have been Murder.
Trying to get the ball to Curry might have been a good option but again great players want that shot. Dame most likely wanted that shot.
Iggy was in that position on Dame for a reason. He wanted that matchup also. Pretty sure he was telling Kerr "I got this!" It's what great basketball is made of. Hats off to Iggy! He made a tremendous play. No OT this time.

I see this as scapegoating Meyers. He made the correct decisions on offense, set viable picks that allowed the offense to build back a lead. The defense wouldn't have changed with Kanter in there. Also, Meyers hit a three which I doubt very much Kanter would've attempted much less made. Meyers helped more than he hurt and probably would've been considered a hero had C.J. hit a few shots or dumped it into him for a dunk and the lead.

Because he was clearly out playing Collins last night.

    Collins line: 8 min 0 points, 0 rebounds, 0 assists, 2 t/o and 5 fouls

    Leonard's line: 17 min, 7 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 t/0 and 2 fouls

Now tell me which one was having more of an impact?

I know this isn't directed at me specifically, but my responses would be:

    1. I'm not upset with Dame. He played well and it certainly wasn't his fault that the Warriors came back in the 4th. CJ gets that blame with the 6 clanked shots. Dame DID make a really bad decision in choosing to go at Iggy instead of taking the open long distance shot. He had virtually no chance of not getting fouled before the shot or getting stripped.

    2. Leonard was in the game because Zach had 5 fouls and had been virtually useless before that. Kanter hadn't shown much and got worse as the game went on, probably because he had sludge in his veins instead of liquid due to trying to play basketball without being able to drink any water for 11 hours.

Olshey has had his ups and downs, but most recently he managed to get Kanter and Hood for nothing. Without those two guys we're not in the WCF and then you could have been busy ripping him a new one for the Blazers not being able to accomplish anything.

The Stotts thing has been beaten to death already, but here are my overall thoughts....

I think the pro Stotts and anti Stotts contingent actually sum up his pros and cons pretty well. I mean, we've had him for 7 years, I think the bulk of us have seen enough of him to know that he's not going to change at this point. It's when they go to extreme lengths to demonstrate it that we get into these endless arguments.

    Anyways...

    Pros:
    • Good at developing players
    • The players love playing for him, and play hard for him
    • Gets more out of his guys when they're playing undermanned
    • Does more with less
    Cons:
    • Slow at making adjustments, and sometimes makes questionable ones
    • Stubborn, especially in-game
    • Doesn't hold his players accountable for making bad decisions
    • Has been running the same thing for years, even when they haven't worked.
For the guys in the pro-camp, let me just ask you this. Doesn't a part of you wonder what this team would look like with a new system? Or are you confident that we could make it out of the West in a conference not dominated by the Warriors?

6 years ago the Warriors dismissed Mark Jackson after the Warriors had the most successful season they've had in decades. People at the time thought they were crazy. They brought back pretty much the same team the following year, won 67 games and the Championship, and started a dynasty. Sure a lot of that was because Curry, Draymond, Klay etc. became better players, but Kerr fundamentally changed the way that team played. They were last in passes per game under Jackson, under Kerr the next year they were 10th. They're now near the top. Blazers are near the bottom. The Warriors did their due diligence. They identified an area where they could improve even if the status quo was already pretty good.

All this isn't to say we should play like the Warriors, we definitely don't have the personnel, but after 7 years I'm just so tired of watching the same thing. We do pretty well, but we keep losing the same way. Our offense sputters against the same things year over year, our defense makes the same mistakes. Aren't you curious to see what a new voice could do with Dame and CJ? I'm sure there is someone out there that would run more than just staggered ISOs and pick and rolls. It may end up not being as effective....but we should at least try.

Just to be clear, the problem is not that Dame took the last shot - and I'm sure he wanted to take the shot. The problem is that Stotts had no idea how to get Dame a GOOD shot. Do some of you honestly believe that not one NBA coach knows how to run a play in that situation to maximize the chance of success? I feel as if Stotts just threw Dame to the wolves.

After game one I was mad as hell. Now, I am just sad. Another winnable game, another lost opportunity. Many of you will be around in 20 years when the Blazers make it back to the WCF. At my age and questionable health, I won't.

Yeah, who knew that trying to play professional basketball with a separated shoulder AND going something like 13 hours without eating or drinking ANYTHING before tipoff, or during the game, could have a negative impact on performance?
