It's still possible that he's right.

KG is officially an idiot.KG and Pierce rule the East and go to the finals multiple times..where they will have at least 2 of the best 3 players on the court..and probably win a title if they added another piece or two.I really think KG should take more heat for wanting to stay in a losing situation and stopping a trade to go to somewhere he could win...then Kobe wanting to go to a situation where the team wants to win now instead of in 4 seasons.

Well as of right now, KG is infatuated with going to play in Phoenix with Nash. He's stated that he wants to stay in the West, and his best chance to win a championship is not Boston, but may be Phoenix.

No, not necessarily. We could still trade down (#5 for a decent veteran and a lower lottery pick, something to that effect).

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Chad Ford:The rumblings this afternoon are that Kevin Garnett might back off his "no trade to Boston" demand if the Timberwolves can't work out a deal with the Suns. The bad news ... if he doesn't, the clock is ticking on the Paul Pierce time bomb. His agent, Jeff Schwartz, told me that Pierce would love to play with KG and is still hoping that the Celtics find a way to bring in a star. However, if he can't, Schwartz said he thinks Paul will ask for a trade from Danny Ainge, the Celtics executive director of basketball operations."Danny's got to make a decision," Schwartz said. "It just won't make sense to keep Paul if the Celtics can't compete for a championship. They should trade him and get young players that can help them rebuild."If KG says no and Shawn Marion says no -- who else is out there? The Celtics could revist a Pau Gasol trade. An offer of the No. 5 pick, Delonte West and the expiring contract of Theo Ratliff may be enough to get it done. That way the Celtics keep Al Jefferson and don't give up much of their core.</div>

Again, we have to at least explore the possibility of dealing Pierce over the next 5 days. Make some calls, see what kind of deal you could get or how high of a pick. A deal to Chicago could make sense (although they'd need a 3rd party to match salaries). Maybe a 3-way? Something needs to be explored, because if we do end up trading Pierce, I want another pick in this draft.

If they can get Gasol for #5, Theo, and someone else do it ASAP!As for Pierce, well I'd hold off on dealing him unless it becomes clear they can't being anyone else in at all. That's worst case scenario emergency plan because without him this team is way too young to not have a franchise guy taking the lead.
