I get the point you're trying to make but injuries to both of our bigs played a role too. Before the Nurk injury the roster was finally getting closer to balanced.
I know you left for awhile so you might have missed this but anytime you reference the Blazers and big man coach in the same post it is required that you tag @Boob-No-More (even though he's awol).
This is one of those weird situations where Stotts both deserves an extension and deserves to be fired. No matter what your argument is you're right in my opinion. He is the coach of a WCF team and should get an extension for that if life is fair. We all know that life isn't fair and he completely fucked up any chance we had of advancing further and probably only got as far as he did because of Dame and CJ stepping up in earlier series. He also should've been fired last off season. I'm going to try to say this without laughing/crying but maybe Terry will learn from this post season.
What? He should be let go for his flaws, as the GM should be able to notice him. I guess you're right in that the GM shouldnt have to have us point them out for him.
sure thats possible, but I would think management will be trying to offset what ever players they lose. Im still expecting team that'll finish the season in the top 4 in the WC.
To be fair to Stotts, I don't blame him for losing or the fact that GSW swept. GSW is an all-time great team that was simply the better team. However, I do blame Stotts for not putting the team in the best position to have a chance at winning. His ridiculous Game 1 PNR coverage on Steph Curry, his stubbornness to continue to trot out Aminu and Harkless in the starting line-up, his curious sub patterns and his inability to adjust to Draymond Green flying down the floor without anyone covering him was inexcusable.
Man, that is such a lame excuse OB. We were up 17 in the 2nd half of the last 3 games. The one game we didn't have a 17 point lead was because our coach thought we would be fine if we just left Curry wide open. This wasn't about being tired or running into a better team, we choked.
I don't disagree with some of this but the changing of the lineup i do. When has any team in the conference finals who was losing change 2/5ths of their starting lineup without it being die to injury? I just don't think that would have helped and think it might have been even worse and if done earlier, maybe not beat denver.
Stotts can stay minute more as long as we get rid of Aminu, Harkless, Turner. 1 of the first 2 can stay to ride pine/backup. Meyers I think has earned the right to ride out his contract plus we need a big until Nurk gets back. Unfortunately in order to get rid of ET we might have to bundle up CJ I doubt 2 firsts will get rid of that contract. ET has to go or there will be no change to this roster that we desperately need 3/4 position. This team was put together through Lotto picks and failed lotto picks. It is like digging through the trash for 6 fuckin years and making a million dollars on ebay after taxes so yeah I think he can have an extension. This might have been in his deal with PA too you know if I make WCF with the shit you give me, you have to extend my contract. So before our heads start spinning and we start puking pea soup lets wait to see what happens and enjoy our year.
I find it ironic that after having supported Stotts all these years, now that we've finally made the WCF with him, after watching these playoffs, I'm totally ready for a coaching change. Of course, there is no way ownership or management was going to cut ties with a coach who made the WCF, even if the players did it in spite of him.
Speaking of Aminu. Don't let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya. As the saying goes. As for Turner, we may have to roll him up in a carpet and drop him off a pier.
I explained that already though. When on fumes you don't lose your initial explosion, you lose your endurance and ability to maintain it. We are a great team when clicking and full of energy but couldn't maintain it because we are on a long haul aNd gassed out. Im also not saying we didn't also choke. Im saying it should, and in my opinion, must also be considered a factor in it all. Many things came into play, but this portion is all but dismissed by everyone and i think that isn't fair. I think it played a bigger part than some give it credit for.
Congrats to Coach Stotts! My favorite Blazer coach really since Adelman. In my view very well earned extension...glad to see stability in the franchise and not turning into the revolving coaching door of many big market teams these days....extending the franchise player and the coach is a classy move...I look forward to the next chapter and an improved roster with a healthy Nurk back! Go Blazers! This is a staff and roster of guys I can cheer for up and down the ranks!
Also. Choking goes hand in hand with one of the greatest teams of all time just knowing when to step on the gas.
