The swastika was some sort of ancient symbol of good before Hitler got it. We are doing fine without it. I would be delighted if everyone stopped using any variation of the N word. Everyone. For now we can live without this version you posted. I'm all for being technically correct about things and feel mildly hypocritical to take this stance but fuck it.
So that's the answer? Get rid of old words? No more Shakespeare or King James Bible? I haven't used tubular since the 80's, should we ban that one as well?
Who does tubular offend? I'm not even saying ban it. I don't want to ban the swastika even though the Nazis were evil. I'm saying we can compromise on stuff
It was very obvious why you chose to use that word and you knew the responses you would get. Grow up.
No defense needed from me, I just thought I would help you with the facts. Julian said it like it is.
Actually, I think Mr. Bond got it spot on. Nothing wrong with the word that a dictionary won't correct. There are other benifits to that process too, like taking offense where none is due is a good thing to undo. I guess I don't understand, "any variation of the N word"? English unlike other indo- European languages is largely a commingling of the other languages. I get it the Spanish/Portuguese version of black is now righteously out, due to a bastardize version in English now in disuse. But now everything beginning with N regardless of meaning or even origin?
So if a word that shouldn't offend anyone, actually does because it sorta looks like another word, we delete it? So if someone uses the word speck, honk, setback, etc. Those posts will get deleted? What if someone who is an atheist is offended by the word Christmas? Does that word go away too?
Yes, they actually worked on that one. It seems to have failed. But I wonder when we begin burning the library books with N words in them? Which words will make the cut?
Julian Bond, an American Civil Rights leader was an interesting character to watch through History. Of my generation, a little latter than me but the same generation. He came on the National scene as a young man and always commanded attention and respect. Sort of interesting to me especially due to his style which I noted with interest. Not that I would always agree with his positions but I did more often that some others. While he tended to be a Democrat, he couldn't always pull it off. The man was often too logical to gain full democrat support I think. It was his take on the trigger subject here that I referred to in an earlier post in this thread. I now see my posts have been deleted. WTF is this world coming to? @SlyPokerDog! What's up with this shit? Is today the day you bann MarAzul? https://www.naacp.org/julian-bond/
