Alright before we get the Liberace and Elton John jokes lets get it poppin’ What is your fruit power ranking? 1. Apple, not my favorite based on taste but it’s year round availability and diversity make it the true dynastic fruit. 2. Banana, another year round staple, extremely versatile usage too. 3. Watermelon, always better in the summer months but for that short time there is nothing better than cold watermelon on a hot day. 4. Strawberries, good-googly-moogly... got a lot of tang using strawberries last year. Geniunally shocked at the power of this fruit. 5. Mangoes, Tajín and Mangoes? FUGGABOUTIT
This is an absolutely after season topic. Bing Cherries for sure, then watermelon followed by mango are my top three.
I love all fruit. I used to think I could be happily reincarnation as a fruit bat, until I learned bats are the only mammalian order aside from primates that menstruate. No way would I want to go through that again! My favorites are summer fruit. I grow peaches, two plum trees, cherries, blueberries, strawberries. Also have two apple trees, Fuji and Granny Smith, for fall. Fig tree, lemon, grapes. Blood oranges. Tomatoes, peppers and pumpkins are technically fruit. (Figs and strawberries are technically not fruit, being flowers and leaves, respectively. What we call the seeds are the actual fruit.)
I like it when the sweet taste of rodents and fowl surprises me when I bite into an apricot. Sort of like a soft center hard candy. Wait, what?
Plums, Cantaloupe, Black Caps, Royal Anne's or Bing cherries, Blackberries, Huckleberries, Papaya (split in half, seeds removed with fresh squeezed lemon juice).
A good peach is undefeated. Also a fan of watermelon and mangos. I can eat unlimited blueberries. Loved picking them in summer back in the day. Fucking BUCKETS
Pork goes really well with pineapple. I love a good grilled pork chop with an equally good grilled pineapple ring.
I don't believe in heaven. Gardens are hard work. Found a little turtle in my garden when cutting back an overgrown shrub. Friend holding it.
All berries...pears..Fuji apples..papayas...plums...apricots..tangerines..bananas..honeydew melons..grapes..figs...avocados...guava
A truly great peach is about as close to bliss as possible. Limes, so many different types of limes and they smell amazing, great for cooking and make all my favorite hard beverages better. Berries are a toss up between strawberries, blackberries or blueberries. Bing bing bing! Lastly, pineapple- yum. Mandarins, apples, plumbs, nectarines and many more are fantastic. But they all take a step down from the ones listed above Fuck papayas and avocados - overrated
I enjoy eating the fruit as-is. However, I will occasionally use them baking and/or cooking with a main dish. Here's my list in no particular order or hierarchy: Peach (eat as-is, peach cobbler) Strawberry/Blueberry/Blackberry (eat as-is, smoothies, jams, pies) Lemon/Lime (use the juice with other fruit, sweet tea, occasionally with homemade yogurt, smoothies, or used with my slow cooker whole chicken recipe) Orange (eat as-is, juiced as a drink, or used with my slow cooker whole chicken recipe) Ruby Red Grapefruit (eat as-is, or juiced as a drink) Pineapple (eat after cut into chunks and refrigerated for some time, juiced as a drink or used with my slow cooker pork loin adobo recipe) Apple (eat as-is, pies, applesauce, apple butter, juiced as a drink or used with my pork loin adobo dish) Bosc Pear (eat as-is)
