Thought this deserved its own thread. I can’t tell you how disappointed I am to hear this news. Oh well Go Beavs!
Yeah I was really hoping he was gonna come back. I heard on the radio he was eager to come back and butting into the program, so I thought he would for sure come back.
I'm a die hard Duck. Whole family. But I root for the Beavers unless they are playing us. Not the point though. I hate baseball. If I want to read about baseball I'll join one of those forums.
Beaver baseball under Casey is one of the great stories in Oregon sports history...haters going to hate but Casey is maybe the greatest college baseball coach ever...he'll be missed but man did he build a hell of a national championship program in a cow town of 80k people most folks around the country couldn't find on a map. Mad respect....hope he coaches the next major league team in Portland....baseball rocks! I'm an Oregon sports fan...Duck fans are just full of themselves...they can be over the top way too often when it comes to the small money school rivalry...Beaver baseball is the closest thing to a baseball version of the movie Hoosiers Oregon has going
A three-sport athlete at Newberg High School, Casey attended the University of Portland where he played baseball as well as basketball.[1] In baseball, he was named to the All-Pac-10 Conference Northern Division first team in 1979 and 1980, and was drafted in the 10th round by the San Diego Padres in the 1980 Major League Baseball draft.[1] He played seven seasons in the minor leagues, first with the Padres organization from 1980 to 1984, then with the Seattle Mariners organization from 1985 to 1986 and finally the Minnesota Twins triple-A affiliate Portland Beavers in 1987.[2]
lol, It was a poor attempt at a joke as I played ball at U of P a couple years ahead of Casey. He was not only quite an athlete but obviously an outstanding coach as well.
Trying to get it moved to the OT or Beavers page instead of clogging up and already very clogged front page.
