Makes no f*cking sense. Why would the Suns trade Shawn Marion for a declining player like Jamison who only contributes on offense?

He does everything so well. He rebounds, plays D, runs the floor so well, and he scores alot without having the ball on his hands constantly. Doesn't make any sense. I bet you anything the Suns arent looking to move him.

He isn't happy in PHX and wants out because he wants to lead a team, and the Suns have been looking for deals for a while now. They want to make some cap room, and won't move Amare or Nash.

Like Taylor said, he's made it clear that he's unhappy with his contract and that he wants out, but I don't see him leaving for Jamison.
You might see Phoenix get Haywood/Thomas(whoever requested the trade) in this deal for Marion. Phoenix is in need of a hefty backup C, and they would get one in either player. And like GFT said, they are looking to clear up cap. And a trade like that would be more fair if anything...
Jamison/16th for Marion is a deal that has been talked about all over the place and is one of the better deals you hear about involving Marion. Jamison as a big who can hit the outside shot and still pull down 8-9 rebounds per game would be a good fit in Phoenix and the 16th pick could be used as another asset to make a run at someone like Marcus Camby to help off-set what the Suns lose defensively in the Jamison/Marion swap.
I would love this, but only if we can get a trade for Camby to improve the interior D. Jamison's a guy who actually can contribute in the playoffs and I'm sure he can match Marion's 1 good defensive game. We need another guy who can create besides Nash and Amare. Wizards would of course add a little more. Maybe their pick which would help us in trading up?
I don't like it for Phoenix unless they were somehow able to get Etan Thomas and the 16th pick. Something like Marion and Banks for Jamison, Thomas, and 16th hmm...???
ugh Peter Vecsey wrote this. He is like the plague to all nba rumors, once he gets his hands on them they all just suddenly die

Weren't the Suns asking for a a lot just recently, two starters from the pistons and two draft picks I think? If this is true, what made them change from that to just a swap with Jamison?
Vecsey is terrible. See his "reporting" on Rashard Lewis' contract for the most recent example. Whats crazy about NBA trades is that the more salary you take on, you also get picks. So trading for Marion alone wouldn't include picks. But if you you 'get' Marion in part by agreeing to 'take on' Banks then Phoenix would probably include one of their picks. So Marion actually comes cheaper by taking on Banks too. I'd include Haywood and their pick at 29 too, if not the 24th pick. including Etan and his trade kicker would actually work against Phoenix's goal of cutting salary. Jamison and Haywood forMarion, Banks and #24... still not worth it from their side I'd imagine. Any of these deals for AJ go down only after teams are out of it for KG, or after guys like KG, O'Neal and Randolph are moved (if AJ isn't involved in any of those)I would still be offering them 3 mil for one of those picks too. They've sold picks before.
I like Jamison...but I think do think the Suns would be better off with somebody like Sheed. Sheed + Hunter + Murray + Dupree for Marion and Banks.

When it comes to trades in the NBA, teams don't understand the word no. To them no means "maybe" or "possibly" so if you really want a team to stop asking for somebody you just ask for way too much and sooner or later the other team will get the picture.Exampleetroit: Hey, we hear you are looking to trade Shawn Marion so how about we give you Rasheed Wallace and the 27 pick for him?Phoenix: No thanks, we aren't interested in trading Marion.Detroit: Ok how about Wallace, the 27th pick and Flip Murray for Marion and James Jones?Phoenix: Tell you what, we'll give you Shawn Marion in exchange for Wallace, Tayshaun Prince and both of your draft picks.Detroit: Goodbye
