Walter Kennedy Citizenship Award, as administered and selected by the Professional Basketball Writers Association (PBWA). Named after the NBA’s second commissioner, the honor is presented annually by the PBWA to a player, coach or athletic trainer who shows outstanding service and dedication to the community.
Yes, I am a small market homer, but I'm pretty proud of our dudes, now and then: 92-93: Terry Porter 95-96: Chris Dudley 98-99: Brian Grant 18-19: Damian Lillard
That's what makes Lillard so special. He's great on the court and off the court. Blazers are fortunate to have such a class act.
There are a bunch of really great community oriented players in the league today. I'm proud to support them and am thrilled that Lillard is getting the recognition he greatly deserves. The NBA as a whole is filled with more high character players than I've seen in the past 25 years. There are many on the Blazers who are positive, generous community members.
