<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Despite the Hornets using two first round picks in the 2006 draft on a forward and center, Jackson continued to play hard and surpassed rookies Hilton Armstrong and Cedric Simmons on the depth chart. Coach Scott was impressed by Jackson?s aggressive play under the rim, and decided it was best for him to play behind Tyson Chandler at center. 17 of Jackson?s 25 starts were at PF, but he was only able to average around 9 and 3 a game. In seven starts at center, Jackson played much better as he averaged 12 and 6 a night. His long-range shooting abilities are also a plus, making his value much higher. Although he won?t demand a high salary, Jackson would like to have a little extra bank in his pocket if he?s going to be coming off the bench for another two or three seasons. In fact, at age 32 Marc has never started more than 35 games in one season, and that was in his rookie season with the Warriors. He may not get a starting job elsewhere, but he could get a better opportunity to play with a different team. And with the Hornets waiting to get a return on their two draft choices, Jackson?s playing time would probably decrease to give the younger guys a chance to shine.</div>Check out the full article... link is in my sig.

Jackson was kind of screwed out of philly IMO, I hope he gets what he deserves now (good stuff of course) he isn't that bad of a NBA player.

I liked him; he spaced the floor with his mid-range jumper and played tough in the post (this guy has a frame on him, jeez). He needs to go really, to let Cedric Simmons show what he has and to finally give us a defensive presence down in the post. He averaged 7 and 3, Simmons and/or Hilton Armstrong can easily do that and more next year with more playing time.

Just bringing this up, but you guys that got to see the Hornets play alot, what do you really think of him as a player. I realise that he isn't needed for you guys anymore, but I think the Magic would be a great fit for Marc Jackson. We need a big man to come in and play quality minutes off the bench, and play good defense down low. In the 6 or 7 times I got to watch him play this year, he impressed me with his toughness, and how he made the other teams big mens work harder for their points. Do you guys think he is worth any more than the veterans minimun?

He has a strong body and is pretty hardnosed in the paint sometimes, but he takes the jumpshot more times than not. He's not the best rebounder in the world because he's very grounded and he is definitely not a shotblocker. Basically his main skillset is offense, and people will be surprised by how good of a free throw shooter he is. Now the main problem lies in the fact that he's oft injured; he would be a lot more productive if he got that down. He does well in the beginning of the season but the schedule starts to take its toll on him and he starts to go down. I think he'd be a good fit in Orlando, just not as a starter. Provided he can keep healthy, he'll give you guys some offense in the post. If they give him 15-20 minutes, he'll give you 10 or so points. He's even hit the 20 point mark in about 2-3 games this season...

Good, because that is all that the Magic would give him is about 15-20 minutes of playing time a night. With Howard and Battie out there, he is just there as added big man depth, to come in and play solid man to man defense(Howard and Battie can be our shot blockers), and shoot the mid-range shot. I hope they sign him for the veteran's minimum, because we need to go into cap saving mode now, and just get the smart signings of solid playes for lower salaries.
