Which isn't really in keeping with your thread title.

America has a far more prevalent police force and a higher degree of crime reporting than any country in the world, so we are probably around 196th on the list by your calculations.

The fact that he even responded is somewhat of a miracle as he usually just cuts and past and then runs.

To be fair, he has to be on the run constantly due to the crime in La Pine. He has to carry a gun to protect himself whenever he ventures outdoors.

You forgot to mention that US criminals are some of the only criminals on the planet who can afford to flee and live in an underdeveloped country..I've traveled the world and there are some really sleazy expats out there from the good old USA.....plenty of our crooks in Mexico as well.....we send our really bad, bad guys there I guess..it'll be harder for our crooks to run south of the border with the wall thing

I think it'll be easier - you just disguise yourself as Latino, and wait for ICE to come pick you up. Don't even need to travel to a border state first.

The guns aren't there to protect you from the criminals in your hometown. The guns are there to protect you from the criminals who wear suits in Washington DC.

Which is a completely absurd concept in today's world. Either the suits in DC control the military, which certainly has more firepower than your little pop gun, or the military will defect to your side, in which case you don't need weapons yourself.

And no, a bunch of citizens with guns will not defeat the military, if it comes to that. The US military now has lots of experience fighting loosely organized rebel groups.

And not all 350 million of us are going to join your rebel army. Many of us will be on the side of the USA. So really what you are talking about is a civil war, where you are trying to kill your fellow citizens.

Have you ever been near La Pine?

Have you ever been in the Catskills?

Have you ever crossed the Hudson?

There's only one breed of dog there.....that's racist!

Really? The word takes on new meaning daily.
Here I thought dog breeds where purposely done for desired results. Especially the hounds.

Yes, No, and Yes.

Oh, a joke. Well, I often don't know why the word is used.
it works like this....Sly posts a picture of a dog patrol conquering via some coup and all the dogs are the same breed.....this made me use that word but I apologize...never thought it would trigger a reaction...or require an explanation...gave it a shot..hope that clears it up for you...

The title of this thread is fake...completely utterly fake..but hey! The hits keep on coming!

Why the high crime statement about La Pine? Another joke I missed, like @riverman 's?

Maris once said that he needed a gun to walk in the woods for fear of bad guys.

but I apologize...
No need to apologize. I am just trying to keep up on what the word means these days. The word is pretty simple in the dictionary, nothing like the expanded usage in recent times. You seemed to have used it to imply exclusive. But it may just be me, an old engineer fond of precision.

Well you must understand relativity. You see, there are so few there that if you do find a bad guy when out walking, you are the prey. No herd protection what so ever. Where in your case, way more bad guys about when you go walking, but you are protected by the herd. So damn many of you that losing one nightly does not make the individual fearful or even prompt him to take precautions. You all think losing one a night, my turn is not likely to come up. Not the same game.

I use to go to the La Pine area often, fishing. It used to be some of the best trout fishing in the world. Hard to find a place to camp these days though. Yes I was always armed there. Never did pack in NYC though. If I went to the areas where I might need to be armed, I probably couldn't carry enough rounds nor load them fast enough to do any good. So I stuck to Manhattan, White Plains, up the river.

Just to clarify a possible misunderstanding, I live in Portland. I was in NYC last week for work.
