I mean, it would benefit everyone involved. Wouldn’t you like to have bought out ET 2 years ago? He gets paid, we get flexibility, and he gets to find somewhere else to play and make more money. It’s almost like an amnesty rule, get out of jail free cards. Be nice to be able to get out from under an injured player or just a bad contract.
While I’d love to not watch Evan Turner dribble a basketball in a blazers jersey ever again, I think I’d rather just bite the bullet for another season, or whenever he’s traded. I hope Neil at least replaces him in the rotation so he’s nothing more than a dude in a suit.
Yes technically, but re-signing everyone likely gets us hard capped and therefore near impossible to do without staying under the tax apron. The only way that happens is if Kanter signed for the tax-MLE, Hood signed for $4.15 million, and Curry signed for like $3 million.
The owners try to do the exact opposite in every CBA. Why would they want to pay a guy his full contract and then pay other players to get enough salary to field a team. This would cost the owners double in some situations. The solution is to not sign players to stupid contracts to begin with. Teams shouldn't get off with little to no punishment for signing Evan Turner to $70 million.
I mean, the punishment is having to pay Evan Turner 70 million after a season or two of disappointment lol that’s a pretty penny... but for teams looking to compete? It would be a godsend. It won’t happen, I know. I just wish there were ways to buy out players without cap penalty. ESPECIALLY in final year of their contracts.
I dont think we are going to see Evan turnover again in the Playoffs for the Blazers, i dont think he will be a Blazer past Deadline, i can live with that, as long as he isn't on the roster after the Deadline. My biggest concern is not Turner, it is the very likely possibility that Hood, Kanter and Seth are gone because we cant pay them, and without Nurkic and who knows what they are going to do with Aminu, that is definetly not a WCF Team anymore. That is my biggest concern, i hope Neil has a good plan and that plan better works out.
I am praying Neil Olshey doesn't make a bad trade with our expiring contracts. "I don't know about you, but I have an aversion to getting F.U.B.A.R.."
meyers and turner are so close to becoming actually useful for us. not on the court, but as either pieces to trade or hard cash to come off the books. i dunno what we need to do but it needs to involve a trim the only annoying this is turner had a decent wcf and ditto meyers. just a huge pity about all the games and season prior.
Meyers had a good half in a series we were down 0-3. He has a tendency to do somewhat okay when theres no pressure anymore.
Not good enough. The day he is off this team will be one of the greatest days in trailblazers history!
