Well, it's the offseason and it's time for the Rockets, who haven't made it out of the first round in 10 years, to make their offseason adjustments. With a 52-30 record last season (including 32 games which Yao was out), and 2 of the brightest stars in the league in Tracy McGrady and Yao Ming, the Rockets will be a contender even if they don't make any big moves this offseason. With a great offensive coach coming to the Rockets, many of the team's offensive woes will be relinquished. The Rockets have already made a big position upgrade with the acquisition of Mike James, who will the PG position MUCH needed depth. Now the Rockets have 2 choices:1) Make simple lineup upgrades. The Rockets could have arguably been a 60 win team last year if not for health, and with a better offensive coach and a pretty big upgrade at PG in Mike James, the Rockets have a great chance at success next season. An example of making a small upgrade is at the PF position. The Rockets still need a lot of help in the frontcourt, but with the MLE, LLE, a few trading chips and the Draft, they can make a few cheap, necassary moves to upgrade this position. 2) Make a fairly large lineup change by using one-all of the many trading chips to acquire a guy like Ron Artest, Rashard Lewis, or Marcus Camby. Despite the Rockets having a very successful season, for the most part, in 06/07, they are still one big move away from truly being in the class of SA/Dallas/Phoenix. With T-Mac getting older and back crumbling by the year, with Yao's yearly injuries, and a few vets that don't have too much longer, this is a good time to make this kind of move and truly make a run. With a guy like Artest, you won't be giving up too much, and could potentially get a VERY high reward player who has a player option at the end of the year so if he causes problems, he's out. With a guy like Lewis, you will be locked up with him and his contract for a long time. Decisions...decisions....

We NEED someone at PF. Juwan's gone, and Chuck is an intangible player, not really a scorer. I just say get anyone Rashard, or Artest. If we trade someone like Battier we can still get someone that can defend well, plus score, and be able to create. But Rashard is form Houston, people want him 2 come here, he had a great season last year (not saying he will be averagin 20 pts here tho). I just say get one of them this offseason.

I wonder how they would pan out if they keep the pick in the draft. I don't think they'd be able to get a serviceable 4 way down there, hopefully Tiago Splitter falls to them or maybe even Sean Williams...What do ya'll think should go down? Trade the pick to get a Rashard Lewis or Artest, or keep the pick and pray?

Why is it that they want to trade Battier?? I can understand they would like to get another offensive weapon like Lewis, but Battier is the type of guy that does everything... He played his basketball in the playoffs when he held AK47 to like five points per game.

Why wait till thier stars are on the de-cline - if they make a move now they can seriously contend for the title.
