I think there is a good chance, if Bazemore does well in training camp (in terms of learning the plays, understanding our defensive schemes), that he could start at SF and they move Harkless up to PF temporarily until Nurk comes back. Baze was the SF starter on a 48 win ATL playoff team, and Harkless could presumably get better looks playing the 4 instead of the 3....Just a thought.
I think you'll see a completely different Bazemore in Portland. He will end up being the most important move this summer.
Sure, I just meant the big guys. Ie. Love/Griffin etc. just became less likely. From like 1% to .001%...
Bazemore's contract will be available for aggregation as of 8/24. However, I imagine that if Neil plans on using our expiring deals in trade (I'm not holding my breath), it will be near the deadline rather than this summer.
I don’t know what people are smoking. Kent Bazemore had a horrible effective Field goal percentage of 47% last season. That’s the same as Evan Turner. Maurice Harkless has never been that bad. Harkless shot an effective field goal percent of 53% last season. This is a sideways trade for Evan Turner.
Nice move. Simons will have an expanded role this upcoming season as a ball handler along with Dame. Bazemore helps solidifies at the wing while Little can be brought along slowly during the 2019-20 season. Kudos!
Im not advocating this but now that we are 2/3 heavy why couldn't you pkg our starting 2 for a legit 4? Prob not happen but we do have assets for a home run swing if a make since deal is there.
luxury tax won't be calculated for about 10 months. Neil has lots of time to reduce the bill if necessary.
From some Hawks forums.... I absolutely do not understand this trade in the slightest Very smart timing by the hawks for this news to get out once the Cam Reddish conference ended so they wouldn’t have to answer any questions regarding this I'm a little confused I know Baze was leaving anyway, but why trade him on his last year for a guy with a similar contract? Baze is useful so this is kind of confusing. Also they are near the same age soooo…yeah…whaaat??? The Hawks have been good about trading their vets to favorable teams with good situations. Looks like they did Bazemore a solid while keeping their 2020 capspace intact. Either way, i’ll be rooting for the Blazers (when they’re not playing the Hawks).
