You don't think 95% of the people on this board would have taken Little? Are we all good enough to be GM? I don't hate Olshey. I do appreciate that I think it takes his slick salesman-like personality to succeed in small market Portland.
He's still been the best GM we've had in decades. Even with the mistakes. He's an extremely good GM. He was an extremely good GM even when he gave those "mistake" contracts to the guys who helped get us to the WCF for the first time in decades... It's a joke that anybody was giving him a hard time. An absolute joke. I'm sorry if you fit in that category. Eat crow. That's what you get for publicly disparaging a guy. It's public. People remember. You're on record. Again. Grow up and eat crow.
No one gets a trophy for making it to WCF's. I like NO's moves the last year or so, but seriously saying he's the best GM they've had in years, well it's been like 40 years since they won a ring, all that really proves is we haven't had very good GM's. It was a great year, no doubt, but acting like this one year (in which they got swept in the WCF's) proves that any criticism towards him is now negated doesn't really hold water either.
Damn, never noticed how crazy his wingspan is for a guy that's 6'5. He's got the same wingspan as Mo.
I'm not even going to try and address that statement. I'm sure someday the Pels will regret passing on Little for Zion.
And it doesn't necessarily mean we don't want Hood. I suspect we do. It's more likely that we can't afford him after his hot playoff performance.
decades implies at least 2, right? 20 years? right? I will agree that--even with his missteps--Olshey is the best Portland GM in 1.5 decades.
I've defended NO all along. The biggest mistake he's made was letting Aldridge walk. He should have traded him the year before when his value was highest and he refused to re-sign with us. Aside from that he's paid guys big money when big money was being handed out. He's the best GM we could hope to get even if we fired him. Wanting him is replaced is a joke. It's pointless. And it has been a joke every time it's been brought up. I didn't say we can't question moves or discuss alternatives, but people in here have taken it too far in the past. If you fit that bill, then you should eat crow. The guy is a good GM. You want to be worse? You want to go back to the days of picking high in the lotto every year? Fire him. But we've been down that road. You know who you are. Eat Crow.
Neither does the excess whining and crying about him. This forum xan be ridiculousy over critical as well and the daily bashing on certain players, coaches and managent has become very tiresome. I have yet to see it ever accomplish anything other than the weak ass "venting" excuse by some.
Just to be clear, if Little is in the running for Rookie of the year, then Olshey is the bomb. But, if Little doesn't even scratch the radar, then is there some crow to go around, or is it just one-way crow? I don't think the point is if Olshey has done more good than bad. The point as I see it is that he has made good moves and made mistakes. Either way, I don't think any crow is necessary. Time will judge Olshey's moves and this discussion shouldn't even be happening until the end of next season.
Olshey has been consistently dragged on here, probably more than he deserved. Shit, I did some of it myself. It’s ok to admit you were being a dickhead. It’s also ok to criticize him, he deserves some of it, mainly that disaster of an offseason in 2016, but one thing I don’t think anyone should do is minimize the good moves he has made, just to fit a narrative of incompetence.
