Some of those guys signed for cheap because of their top heavy talent.

They were loaded, but the top of those rosters were amazing.

    Curry, Thompson, Green, Durant

    Duncan, Parker, Ginobili, Leonard

    James, Wade, Bosh

Each of those teams had the best or top 3 player on their roster

Very often but normally those teams don’t stretch their roster THIS thin.

Of course he'd be the best option, but I don't see him as a realistic possibility, which is why I omitted him from the post to which you responded.

I’d say we have a great top 3.

    Dame (top 10 player)
    CJ (top 5 SG)
    Nurkic (arguably top 5 center)

We need to build quality depth around them, which we are doing.

I think you are remembering a lot of these guys being way better than they actually were at this point in their careers.

Iggy is about the only guy out of all of these guys who was still on an incline at the time

And the Lakers will be able to sign players just like this , by the way

I hope L@kers go for Kyrie, but they should get Beverly and BroLo.

Livingston was the best backup PG in the nba for YEARS. Speights, Barbosa, and West... oh and David frickin Lee were all huge in their championship runs.

And if Kawhi, Lowry or Siakam get hurt... the Raptors probably struggle as well?

And if KD never gets hurt or Klay...

    Guess who the champ is?

    The team
    With no bench

CJ is definitely a top 5 SG this year. With Klay out, and Oladipo not fully healthy (yet), I would definitely agree.

Nurkic though, I’m not so sure. We have no idea when he will be back or what form he will be in. I’m also not sure he’s a top 5 center as is (Jokic, Embiid, Gobert, AD, Vuc, Towns)

Butler would be the only one Id consider maxing, otherwise use the $'s to spread around for role players.

As people have mentioned before, their bench gets filled with cheap vet mins and ring chasers because having those big players attracts capable guys.

So, fill out the top of your team, and the rest will follow.

    Stretch what roster this thin?

None of us even know what the Lakers roster will look like.

And if I had to take a guess

It won’t be a bunch of D Leaguers.

It’ll be a bunch of people ring chasing.

Hard to call a roster thin before it’s even assembled.

Considering there was a report that said he is meeting with them...

And Woj said the other day (maybe Shams or Stein) that the Lakers weren’t out of it...

I added my opinion that Kawhi is who they should go after.

I also didn’t know you omitted Kawhi because you didn’t think it was realistic. I saw your next post after I responded.

    Sorry.

I'm not so sure. Warriors were appealing because they had already won and they move the ball well. The same is not true (yet) for the LBDA L@kers. I'm guessing touches will be harder to come by--which means stats and personal value may also go down.

I can’t see the future. I’m not willing to call a roster thin that hasn’t even been constructed yet.

Also — I think a roster with Kawhi, LeBron and AD would be more appealing than any big 3 we have ever seen before.

Why the hell do they need 11 vet min ring chasers? Most teams play 7-8 man rotations in the playoffs.
