Put me down as a 50/50 chance for next Saturday. Likely won't know for sure until day of.

Sly said that's what he'd trade Meyers for. I was unsuccessful in finding a pic. Lol.

okay, rather than start a new thread (maybe I should?) I thought I would ask here, as most everyone posting in here plays basketball and is familiar with hoops, or more familiar anyhow.

I'm shopping for a portable right now. Shy of spending upwards of a grand, Im not finding anything that I feel sound in. Either they are a nightmare to assemble, company regularly has missing parts, backboards warp and shatter after a year. Or the base isn't heavy enough to withstand winds(which is crucial where I live).

I don't want to put a permanent in ground one because the patio isn't big enough to justify that for one and two, I may want to move it around on the patio depending on how often it is used.

Ive checked reviews and done comparisons on Spalding, Lifetime at Amazon, Walmart and Big 5 and none of the hoops in the 100-500 range seem like they will meet my requirements.

One I was looking at. Lots of poor reviews regarding quality and assembly.

Even a $600 one has some grave reviews

Has any one ever purchased and assembled a hoop for yourself or a friend? Curious of your experience/recommendations?

I cant even afford the one above or this, however nice it would be, my wife would go ape shit. LOL

I'm almost inclined to just wait for a couple more bonus checks and buy a high end expensive one like that last one, but even IT has a few poor reviews much the same issues as the others.

Are the high end ones really worth the money?

    $8K for a portable hoop? .......

Is the difference really worth the money going from a $300 hoop to a $600 hoop? I'm sure there is a difference in this last hoop, but most of the others I posted look the same for the most part and I fear having the same wind/assembly issues.

The one i just bought my nephew was $1000 and i got it on Craigs List. Originally it was like 6200??? This was the absolute best on the market and the kid it was bought for didn't use it so his mom sold it to me.
To answer your question Yes the difference is worth it for sure.

Don't fall for Amazon always being the best price. That goes for anything. Always shop around.

$1000 is still something I cant spend for this until my next bonus this fall. And possibly not until the one after that.

But if its worth it, I suppose Id prefer to lose the summer play than pay for one that wont work next summer. I prefer quality over qty.

That was kind of my point. Wait and save up. Look for a good deal. Kids get them and then quit using them. Seriously the hoop i got my nephew was like brand new and it's top shelf. Good thing is his whole street uses it. That was probably the best grand i have spent in a long time.

    Guys...

I don't know what happened but I tweaked my foot refereeing last weekend (it just started hurting for no reason) in my 3rd of 6 games.

I was sprinting fine in the last 3 games but it was pretty painful. I was hobbling yesterday and am today. I'm honestly not sure what it is because it wasn't like some acute injury.

I'm gonna rest it as much as possible this week but I'm scheduled 10 games this weekend too. I might have to turn them back.
