it might be easy to misread the free agent situation right now

Most of the league-wide cap-space is gone, But there is still somewhere around 70-80 million in cap-space between the two LA teams. If Kawhi chooses either of the LA teams, the other will start signing lesser free agents. If Kawhi returns to Toronto both of those LA teams will be in a mad cramble to fill out their rosters

so right now, there might be Kawhi constipation in that a lot of free agents who might be headed for a vet minimum or a lower exception might be waiting to see if they can increase their next deal based upon Kawhi. I'd certainly think Somebody like Cousins could anticipate some interest from one of the LA teams

I never realized Kawhi was so high maintenance.

Looking at his numbers, Hezonja shoots well/OK every other year. the other years he stinks badly at shooting. This upcoming season should be a good shooting year if the cycle holds.

    .513 , .420 , .523 ,and .478 (last season) are his eFG% for his 4 NBA seasons. .420 is horrific.

Clippers don’t have to do anything if he doesn’t sign. They roll back the team and do the best they can. They have a decent group with great chemistry and it’s not like they will be competing for a title regardless who they sign if they strike out on Kawhi. Jerry West is too clever to allow them to waste money.

The Bird/Mchale/Parish Celtics would beg to differ.

That team also had a backcourt. I can’t even name a Lakers guard right now, I know they don’t have a Dennis Johnson or Danny Ainge.

The fact that Hezonja took a minimum deal hours after FA opened tells me he wanted to be in Portland specifically. If he was looking to rebuild his value, he probably ignored the money and found the best possible situation to do that.

Not to compare them at all...but Dame is a career .434 shooter. A lot depends on context. Hopefully, playing off of Dame/CJ or at the very least, a better bench, will get him better looks in a more comfortable environment and allow him to blossom.

You didn't notice all the drama going on in San Antonio before he was traded?

I am using Effective Field Goal Percentage. regular old field goal percentage is meaningless for guys who take a lot of threes. (for your 3-point MAKES, you get 1.5 that number, since 3 is 1.5 of 2. You get credit for the extra point).

Lillard has a career .510 eFG% and has only barely gone below .500 once in his career (.497). Last season was a career high .522 eFG% for Lillard.

.420 is a horrific number for effective field goal percentage. To get that, Hezonja shot .299 on 144 three-pointers and .398 on 186 two-pointers.

My sources say once Kawhi picks Toronto and Iggy gets bought out that Boogie and Iggy are going to LAL. Still have zero backcourt.

Good point. I wonder if he got promised at least the backup SF spot?
