Chad Ford: The rumblings this afternoon are that Kevin Garnett might back off his "no trade to Boston" demand if the Timberwolves can't work out a deal with the Suns. The bad news ... if he doesn't, the clock is ticking on the Paul Pierce time bomb. His agent, Jeff Schwartz, told me that Pierce would love to play with KG and is still hoping that the Celtics find a way to bring in a star. However, if he can't, Schwartz said he thinks Paul will ask for a trade from Danny Ainge, the Celtics executive director of basketball operations. "Danny's got to make a decision," Schwartz said. "It just won't make sense to keep Paul if the Celtics can't compete for a championship. They should trade him and get young players that can help them rebuild." If KG says no and Shawn Marion says no -- who else is out there? The Celtics could revist a Pau Gasol trade. An offer of the No. 5 pick, Delonte West and the expiring contract of Theo Ratliff may be enough to get it done. That way the Celtics keep Al Jefferson and don't give up much of their core.
I think Garnett should just go ahead and start looking forward to going to Boston. They obviously really want him there, and are apparently willing to ship out their future to get Garnett onto the Celtics to team with Paul Pierce. He will have a much easier path to the finals, will have a great fan base behind him, won't have to be the man at the end of games since he sometimes doesn't like to take over down the stretch. A starting lineup of Rondo, Allen, Pierce, Garnett and Perkins(if they give up Jefferson) as starters can be a very good defensive team, as well as Pierce and Garnett can easily carry the scoring load if needed. I think he just needs to do what's best for himself, and the Timberwolves and move on to the Celtics so they can start rebuilding and he can have a better chance at winning.
Theo Ratliff, Wally Szczerbiak, Gerald Green, #5 pick, and Sebastian Telfair for Kevin Garnett, Troy Hudson, and #41 They aren't gonna get a better offer, and I would NOT trade Al Jefferson for him. This deal makes so much sense for both teams.

That would be a terrible deal for Minnesota. Why would they do that? Craig Smith is basically gonna be the heir of KG. Why would they trade him? And why would they give up KG for virtually nothing? At least my deal is fair.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Theo Ratliff, Wally Szczerbiak, Gerald Green, #5 pick, and Sebastian Telfair for Kevin Garnett, Troy Hudson, and #41</div>CB32, that would never happen in a million years. You're basically getting Gerald and the #5 for KG. Wally is the JD Drew of basketball, Theo Ratliff is pretty much done, and Telfair is a bust. You're getting young player with a whole bunch of "upside" and that draft pick. There is no way Minny trades KG unless Al Jefferson is involved. I agree with you that I wouldn't trade AL J for him, but Minny won't take that deal for Garnett. On a side note, people are really underrating Jefferson in the media and impatient fans. Greg Dickerson is making these absolutely retarted comments on FSN every night. T'Wolves fans should be pumped about this if it actually goes down. You're getting a 22 year old tough forward with a post up game, 10-12 jumper, and can create a lot of problems against weak centers/PF's across the league. This guy will be an all-star and will be putting up the same numbers as Kevin Garnett in a short time.
