Which player would you want in their prime if the bases were loaded in the bottom of the 9th, 2 outs, 0-2 count?Give me Ken Griffey Jr. Best swing in baseball and my favorite player of all-time. If he never got injured he would of shattered whatever Bonds was at now. Which player do you think was the better player in their pime as well?Just because there's so much speculation about Bonds' steroid use give me Griffey Jr. for the better player but it's tough to argue against the only 500/500 player EVER10 time gold glove winner and over a 4-year period in his prime was averaging over 50 home runs a season. Like I said the best swing in baseball during his playing days and I still say he has the best swing in baseball.
Griffey. He was jusrt amazing. He was a great hitter with a beautiful swing, and a fearless center fieldler. Who knows where Griffey could be now if it wasn't for his inhjuries.
Barry Bonds. He's had 1144 more AB's and has played two more years than Griffey, yet he has 24 less strikeouts. He's simply the best hitter the game has ever seen. His plate discipline is unparalleled and we all know how much power he has (he leads Griffey in every extra AB category) As for Alex Rodriguez, I wouldn't take him now, but I'd take him sometime in the future when he has a little more experience and plate discipline...
In this situation I would want Barry Bonds. Griffery in his prime was my favorite player in the game but Barry Bonds was on a whole different level at his peak (steroirds or not). As already mentioned Bonds strikes out less and has hit for more power then either Griffey or A-rod. Though the only downside the Bonds is that even at 0-2 he would most likely end up with a walk bringing in only 1 run because the pitcher would not give him anything close to hit where as with A-rod and Griffey they would be challenged more often.
I think Barry Bonds is the better player, but I really wish Griffey didn't have the injury problems that he's had. I think he definitely would be #1 on the home run list, until A-Rod takes a crack at it later on. If he didn't have so many injury problems we may have seen him and Bonds duking it out for #1 on the home run list and that would've been great to see.
