Jeffrey Epstein, the wealthy financier and registered sex offender, was arrested Saturday on new charges related to accusations that he was involved in sex trafficking dozens of minors between 2002 and 2005. The former hedge-fund manager is now in federal custody and is expected to appear in court on Monday. The sealed indictment will reportedly claim that Epstein “sexually exploited dozens of underage girls in a now-familiar scheme: paying them cash for ‘massages’ and then molesting or sexually abusing them,” according to the Daily Beast, which was first to report the news that has since been confirmed by several outlets. The abuse allegedly took place in both his Manhattan apartment as well as his home in Palm Beach and he could face as many as 45 years behind bars.

Epstein was taken into custody on Saturday afternoon at Teterboro Airport in New Jersey when his private jet landed from Paris. While that was going on, agents were at his New York home executing a search warrant.

The arrest, which the New York Times characterizes as “an extraordinary turn of events in a long and sordid criminal case,” comes more than a decade after Epstein avoided federal criminal charges with a once-secret plea deal that has been widely criticized. Under the terms of that deal that is currently being challenged in court, Epstein was able to plead guilty to a lesser charge and was sentenced to 13 months in jail. He had to register as a sex offender but served that jail time in a private wing of a county jail and came up with an arrangement that allowed him to work out of his office six days a week. He also registered as a sex offender.

In an era when the behavior of powerful men has been increasingly under scrutiny, Epstein wasn’t really talked about until the Miami Herald published a three-part series detailing how he was able to skirt federal prosecution. In addition to his extraordinary wealth, Epstein was also friendly with Donald Trump, former President Bill Clinton, and Prince Andrew, the Duke of York, among other powerful figures. The plea deal that protected Epstein from federal charges was overseen by Alexander Acosta, who is now Labor Secretary.

Earlier this year, a judge in Florida ruled that Epstein’s victims should have been consulted on the deal. But last month the Justice Department said it would not nix Epstein’s non-prosecution agreement. What happens Monday in court will be key because if he is granted bail, some say he may be able to escape prosecution once again. “That bail hearing will be critical because if they grant him bail, he has enough money that he will disappear and they will never get him,” a source in New York told the Miami Herald.

Christine Pelosi warns it's 'quite likely that some of our faves are implicated' in 'horrific' Epstein case

By Gregg Re | Fox News

Christine Pelosi, a Democratic National Committee official and daughter of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, warned conspicuously on Saturday evening that it is "quite likely that some of our faves are implicated" in the "horrific" sex-trafficking case against politically connected financier Jeffrey Epstein.

Epstein is due in court following his sudden arrest Saturday in New York on new sex-trafficking charges involving allegations dating to the early 2000s, according to law enforcement officials. He has been accused of paying underage girls for massages and sexually abusing them at his mansion in Palm Beach, Fla., and in New York City. His 72-acre private estate on the Virgin Islands, a home said to be nicknamed "Orgy Island," also has been under scrutiny.

"This Epstein case is horrific and the young women deserve justice," Pelosi tweeted. "It is quite likely that some of our faves are implicated but we must follow the facts and let the chips fall where they may - whether on Republicans or Democrats."

It was unclear exactly to whom Pelosi was referring, but Epstein has long been connected with high-profile figures, including Britain's Prince Andrew and former President Bill Clinton. Court documents obtained by Fox News in 2016 showed that Clinton took at least 26 trips flying aboard Epstein's private jet, known as the "Lolita Express," and apparently ditched his Secret Service detail on some of the excursions. Records showed that President Trump may have flown on the jet at least once.

The president previously called attention to Clinton's dealings with the financier.

"Nice guy -- uh, got a lot of problems coming up, in my opinion, with the famous island, with Jeffrey Epstein," Trump told Fox News' Sean Hannity in 2015, referring to Clinton's connections with Epstein. "A lot of problems."

Meanwhile, Trump biographer Tim O'Brien this weekend reposted an excerpt fom a 2002 profile of Epstein in New York Magazine, in which Trump told a reporter, "I've known Jeff for fifteen years. Terrific guy. He's a lot of fun to be with. It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side."

However, Trump's legal team more recently has denied the two were friends.

Trump banned Epstein from his Mar-a-Lago estate “because Epstein sexually assaulted an underage girl at the club,” according to court documents filed by Bradley Edwards, the lawyer who has represented several Epstein accusers.

EPSTEIN ONCE CLAIMED HE CO-FOUNDED THE CLINTON FOUNDATION

Epstein was being held at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Manhattan, according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons website. The wealthy hedge fund manager is slated to appear Monday in Manhattan federal court.

Epstein's arrest, first reported by The Daily Beast, came amid renewed scrutiny of the once-secret 2008 plea deal that ended the federal investigation against him.

He ultimately served 13 months in jail and registered as a sex offender after pleading guilty to two lesser state prostitution charges, with one involving a girl whom prosecutors called a prostitute -- even though she was only 14 years old.

Epstein had faced a possible life sentence prior to that plea deal, which has been challenged in Florida federal court. The deal also required he reach financial settlements with dozens of his once-teenage victims and register as a sex offender.

CUSHY PLEA BARGAIN WITH EPSTEIN WAS SO BAD IT BROKE THE LAW, JUDGE RULES

Epstein's deal was overseen by former Miami U.S. Attorney Alexander Acosta, who is now Trump's labor secretary. Acosta has defended the plea deal as appropriate under the circumstances, though the White House said in February that it was "looking into" his handling of the arrangement.

"This matter has been publicly addressed previously, including during confirmation hearings," a Labor Department spokesperson told Fox News. "The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Florida has defended the actions in this case across three administrations."

U.S. District Judge Kenneth Marra of Florida ruled earlier this year that Epstein's victims should have been consulted under federal law about the deal, and he was weighing whether to invalidate the non-prosecution agreement, or NPA, that protected Epstein from federal charges.

Wealthy financier Jeffery Epstein faced up to life in prison, but never went to trial, over allegations he sexually molested dozens of underage girls at his Palm Beach mansion; senior correspondent Rick Leventhal reports.

It was not immediately clear whether the cases involved the same accusers since nearly all have remained anonymous.

Federal prosecutors recently filed court papers in the Florida case contending Epstein's deal must stand.

"The past cannot be undone; the government committed itself to the NPA, and the parties have not disputed that Epstein complied with its provisions," prosecutors wrote in the filing.

They acknowledged, however, that the failure to consult accusers "fell short of the government's dedication to serve victims to the best of its ability" and that prosecutors "should have communicated with the victims in a straightforward and transparent way."

The accusers in the Florida case have until Monday to respond to the Justice Department's filing.

Investigators said at least 40 underage girls were brought into Epstein's Palm Beach mansion for what turned into sexual encounters after fixers looked for suitable girls locally and in Eastern Europe and other parts of the world, according to court records in Florida.

In addition, some girls allegedly were brought to Epstein's homes in New York City, New Mexico and a private Caribbean island, according to court documents.

Saturday's arrest also came just days after a federal appeals court in New York ordered the unsealing of nearly 2,000 pages of records in a since-settled defamation case involving Epstein.

Nebraska GOP Sen. Ben Sasse released a statement Saturday calling for Epstein to be held without bail pending trial.

"This monster received a pathetically soft sentence last time and his victims deserve nothing less than justice," Sasse said in the statement. "Justice doesn't depend on the size of your bank account."

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

The connection between Donald Trump and Jeffrey Epstein has been well documented for years:

    Donald Trump on Jeffrey Epstein:

"I've known Jeff for fifteen years. Terrific guy,'' Trump booms from a speakerphone. "He's a lot of fun to be with. It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side. No doubt about it -- Jeffrey enjoys his social life."

    Some more:

Epstein’s phone directory from his computer contains 14 phone numbers for Donald Trump, including emergency numbers, car numbers, and numbers to Trump’s security guard and houseman,” the affidavit reportedly claims.

And just in case anyone thought that was exclusive to Trump's opinions 20 years ago:

Now, Trump is on the witness list in a Florida court battle over how federal prosecutors handled allegations that Epstein, 64, sexually abused more than 40 minor girls, most of them between the ages of 13 and 17. The lawsuit questions why Trump’s nominee for labor secretary, former Miami U.S. attorney Alexander Acosta, whose Senate confirmation hearing began Wednesday morning, cut a non-prosecution deal with Epstein a decade ago rather than pursuing a federal indictment that Acosta’s staff had advocated.

That's right: the prosecutor that refused to charge Epstein for raping little girls was appointed to Secretary of Labor, by none other than Donald Trump.

In November, the Miami Herald reported that when Labor Secretary Alexander Acosta was a US attorney in Florida, he gave Epstein the "deal of a lifetime." In a sweeping review of the politically connected billionaire's case, the Herald explained how Acosta had made an agreement with Epstein to avoid major repercussionsfor the hedge fund manager, even though a federal investigation had identified 36 underage victims.

That's the same Trump that was accused, along with Epstein, of raping a 13 year old girl in 1994..

Here are some excerpts from the lawsuit; warning that the following content is graphic:

Plaintiff was subject to acts of rape, sexual misconduct, criminal sexual acts, sexual abuse, forcible touching, assault, battery, intentional and reckless infliction of emotional distress, duress, false imprisonment, and threats of death and/or serious bodily injury by the Defendants that took place at several parties during the summer months of 1994.

Plaintiff was enticed by promises of money and a modeling career to attend a series of parties, with other similarly situated minor females, held at a New York City residence that was being used by Defendant Jeffrey Epstein. At least four of the parties were attended by Defendant Trump. On information and belief, by this time in 1994, Defendant Trump had known Defendant Epstein for seven years and knew that Plaintiff was then just 13 years old.

On the fourth and final sexual encounter with Defendant Trump, Defendant Trump tied Plaintiff to a bed, exposed himself to Plaintiff, and then proceeded to forcibly rape Plaintiff. During the course of this savage sexual attack, Plaintiff loudly pleaded with Defendant Trump to stop but with no effect. Defendant Trump responded to Plaintiff’s pleas by violently striking Plaintiff in the face with his open hand and screaming that he would do whatever he wanted.

Immediately following this rape, Defendant Trump threatened Plaintiff that, were she ever to reveal any of the details of the sexual and physical abuse of her by Defendant Trump, Plaintiff and her family would be physically harmed if not killed.

Defendant Epstein had sexual contact with Plaintiff at two of the parties. The second sexual encounter with Defendant Epstein took place after Plaintiff had been raped by Defendant Trump. Defendant Epstein forced himself upon Plaintiff and proceeded to rape her anally and vaginally despite her loud pleas to stop. Defendant Epstein then attempted to strike Plaintiff about the head with his closed fists while he angrily screamed at Plaintiff that he, Defendant Epstein, rather than Defendant Trump, should have been the one who took Plaintiff’s virginity, before Plaintiff finally managed to break away from Defendant Epstein.

So, Epstein is being chastised for stuff Trump has done.
But Pelosi is right, let the chips fall wherever they may. Anybody should have known this crap is wrong and damages a persona forever. Unforgivable.

Raise your hand if you think Epstein should be forced to foot the bill for his own execution!

Yes I said it, death penalty for him...

Beyond despicable, disgusting, immoral. This man negatively impacted the lives of so many youth. He knew what he was doing is wrong; we all know it.

While I like the fantasy, I don't believe in capital death punishment. Life in prison is something I could get behind.

The treasure troves of evidence locked in Epstein's safe is "beyond compromising."

In 2015, years before the Epstein shit hit the fan, Louise Mensch saw proof that Trump Models was the main supplier for Lolita Express and Pedo Island.

What a time to be alive.

    Free speech, my dude/ma'am.

The phone records, plethora of photos with Epstein. Also, the SIXTEEN numbers Epstein had just for Trump - I'm sure is just a coincidence :bicycle:

Trump's neighbor and friend was indicted today for child sex trafficking.

Clinton is not immune either. This isn't a political issue - it's a pedo issue.

    Trump is a pedophile.
