I think that was only last season because he was playing for his QO Now Hood has an early-bird contract and Portland owns those rights. Pretty sure those would transfer in a trade
His name has been mentioned before but I also wouldn’t mind Sefolosha. He’s old but still grades out very well defensively, is a good rebounder for his position, and can knock down a three. I wouldn’t even be opposed to him starting and playing 15-20 minutes a night. A lot of people would love to add Iggy, well Sefolosha isn’t a bad alternative either.
Hell no to trading Simons for RoCo. I truly think Hood is a better, albeit different, player than Covington and that we're all going to be surprised at how well Kent Bazemore fits in. I'm all for upgrading the roster but let's not Petro for Walter Davis or Jeramine for Dale Davis this thing up!
Agreed but not worried that is will happen. The only way Neil is moving Ant is if it returns an all star type player who is in his prime. Neither RoCo or KLove would meet that requirement IMO. AD of course would have.
I kept thinking we had some guys targeted and were waiting for one of them to get desperate enough to accept a minimum contract; but now it seems there is nobody left. I suspect Diallo is wanting to go back to Pelicans and is negotiating with them?
Here is somebody's top 8 left. 1. Kenneth Faried He hasn’t adjusted to the offensive or defensive ways of modern bigs, but his physicality and interior presence is still effective in spot minutes. He revived his career a bit in Houston last year, scoring 13 points with eight rebounds in 24 minutes. 2. Thabo Sefolosha Sefolosha is a good defensive guard who can fit into any rotation. He averaged a steal in 12 minutes last year, and added four points and three rebounds. 3. Cheick Diallo Diallo is only 22 and showed promise with New Orleans. He averaged six points with four rebounds on 62 percent shooting last year. Take a chance on Cheick. 4. Nene At 36, he’s nearing the end of his career, but he was still effective in very limited minutes with Houston last year. He’s a good pickup as a last-resort option for a competitive team. 5. Pau Gasol Gasol’s season ended early after he had surgery on his foot to repair a stress fracture. And he’s 36 years old. But when healthy, he was still fine last season, averaging four points and four rebounds in 12 minutes. 6. Jonas Jerebko Jerebko can shoot from deep, making 37 percent of his three attempts per game for the Warriors. Add him for bench depth. 7. Dante Cunningham Cunningham’s offense isn’t stellar, but defensively, he’s pretty good. He also made 30-of-65 threes he took last year, so maybe he can take (and make) more elsewhere. 8. Nik Stauskas I’ll never give up on someone who can shoot.
Did I miss where Livingston and Noah were signed? Of those I'm only tempted by Sefolosha and Jerebko. It would be weird to get Dante back...
Fries would be a solid pick up as he can bring energy and since we lost AFA it would be good to have a guys that could be tough around the hoop.
I don't think that's entirely correct Players who accept their QO have right to veto a trade. Players on a 1 year contract that will have either full-Bird or early-Bird rights at the end of that season can also veto a trade since their Bird rights would not transfer Portland could have traded Curry last season because he was only going to have non-Bird rights, and he had a 1 year contract. Pretty sure there is not any no-trade provision for any player who signs a vet-minimum deal for one year. IIRC, the only other no-trade provision (unless player consents) is when a team matches another team's offer sheet. For that next season, the player can veto a trade
I’m leaning towards Pau, it would fit the theme of finally signing players we tried to get in the past. Plus I think he’d be solid for 10-15 min per game and some championship experience would be nice in the Locker room. The more I think about it snagging Livingston and Pau would do wonders for us, their experience in the playoffs alone would be worth min contracts imo.
Another guy I wouldn’t mind at allll. Forgot who’s a big fan of his on the board, but I’m on team Wood as well. Dude just needs a chance.
