<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>"The public's image of NBA players is true," Bogut told a newspaper in Sydney, Australia. "A lot of them get caught up in the hype and do video clips with rappers and all that crap. They want bling bling all over themselves and drive fast cars. But that's just the way the culture is in America - if you've got it flaunt it, and if you don't, you can't."</div><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>"That's where it stops for me," Bogut said. "I'm not into jewelry. I've got some earrings, but they're not too expensive. There are guys who drop a hundred grand for a chain. The public's got it right - a lot of NBA stars are arrogant and like to spend lots of money and have lots of girlfriends and all that."The smarter guys don't do that. They like to live a regular life and want to retire and be set up. About 80% of them go broke by the time they retire or come close to it."</div><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>"I guess if you're a normal person and suddenly you're getting $10 million a year, it can go to your head," Bogut said.Bogut sees unhealthy aspects of American culture, but Australian culture is not necessarily the ideal."I would never want my child brought up in an environment like that, where if you have money, you're supposed to flaunt it and make everyone jealous," Bogut said about the U.S. "The American attitude is, 'We're the best.' That's why the NBA guys who come from other countries, the Europeans, all sort of stick together away from the game."In Australia, sports stars get shabby treatment in the media, Bogut</div>http://www.jsonline.com/story/index.aspx?id=623822 Bogut's always good for a soundbite or two isn't he? Haha. I figured we could talk about what he said.

He's making himself sound like a saint and like since he's Australian he has never let the NBA go to his head. Didn't Bogut flick off the entire crowd earlier in this year?Sure, alot of NBA players let the money go to their head. At the same time alot of them are respectable men with wives and children. Maybe it's because I'm a Wizards fans and most of the people on this squad aren't the 'hit the club all night every night' type of guys but I'm not going to lie and say there aren't NBA players like that. Most of the time those guys are not all-star caliber players. The best focus on their game and not as much their night life. I'm sure all of them do go out but I'm also sure there's some sort of team bedtime they have to follow and do focus on the game. I'd say about 40-50% of NBA players follow this stereotype.

Well I dont know what to say- Its a bit stupid of him to make a blanket statement about "NBA players"maybe he is right - he sure would have a closer look at it than any of us here, But his team-mates are "NBA" players and I'm sure one or 2 of them has chains and sh*t! That few soundbytes could alienate him or some of his team-mates- Not Smart Bogut.

I dont see how he talks sh*t about ''most nba players'' when he is a big part of why his team is one of the worst teams in the NBA. It's one thing if you shaq and have actually done something, but this kids done nothing but play decent post offense, decent rebounding, and horrendous defense while stealing rip hamiltons face mask so far in his career.

Bogut's not ripping players production or anything. Just the NBA lifestyle....So Bogut can only make comments like this if he's an all-star? Please.
