Do you really think that is what has been happening? Please tell me you are more sophisticated than that.

A wall built to keep people out is also a wall that can keep people in

    Really???

You aren't willing to discuss/debate your reasoning for wanting the wall?

Spending billions on a wall is so anti-conservative in my book. Its a waste of money.

Well, drugs is a start. Apart from the illegals, I don't want them making their way into my country. That said, I think it will take more than a wall in and of itself. it's gonna take technology, and human resources, as well.

ABM, you do know that a record drug haul was recently intercepted by Coast Guard? Do you want to build a wall around the ocean? And the biggest contributor to opioid epidemic is prescription drugs?

Question. If a Democrat is elected president, and Congress, which has constitutional authority to allocate money, declines to fund that president's pet project, would you be Ok with a Democrat ignoring that, taking money allocated for something else and using it for his/ her project? Because that is the constitutional question courts need to decide. Not whether they like a wall. Not the politics. Not whether the only options are medieval wall or totally open border. Whether a president can override Congressional monetary allocation

The wall will not stop anything. People will simply use ladders and dig tunnels or go around it. It will change nothing. It is a waste of money. Money that was allocated to go elsewhere.

The wall will not stop drugs from coming into this country, nor will it make a dent in the number of "illegals" that are coming into the country. The Wall is just a distraction to keep people pre-occupied while shit goes down.

Could you explain how it will really help stop drugs and/ or illegals from going over, under and around?

I have mixed feelings about the wall but most of all i know this. When it comes to human and drug trafficking over a border there is slot of money involved. They will do anything and everything, and to me, the wall is a slapstick bandaid to a larger problem. Mostly a waste of money.

    And im a republican.

@ABM, first, there are hundreds of miles of wall.

Second, beyond that, are you going to build more down the middle of the Rio Grande? If not, are you OK with giving up that river to Mexico? Along the rest, whose private property are you willing to confiscate?

Third, did you know it wasn't even really a campaign issue, but just a device to help candidate Trump remember to discuss immigration? It's a made up issue.

Finally, did you know the vast majority of illegal aliens are here because they overstayed their visa?

Do the facts matter to you people at all?

Do some research abm. 90% of the illegal drugs come in through a port of entry. How does a wall stop that? Also, he can only steal 2.5 bil which is far short for his border wall as that will likely cover rebuilding the sections that need rebuilt. The idiot in the oval office had an agreement with the dems to get his 25bil he wanted and then he reneged on it. The guy isn't very bright despite what he tries to tell people. What happened to Mexico was going to pay for the wall? Was he just lying once again?

If my goal was to fight human and drug trafficking, and illegal immigration. A wall wouldn't be where I’d start. Though I think there is plenty to distrust of our major tech companies at this point, I think technology would prove a better place to invest that money. Robotics, AI, sensors, those all would be way more effective, now there are issues of privacy, but its not like there is such a thing as privacy nowadays anyways.

A wall just seems like it would stop the wrong types, those with money and power to gain would easily enough just go around it.

For those against a wall, what does it hurt to have one? If it even saves one life from an illegal alien it’s worth it.

Because we could use the money for better options. Why don't we put one on the Canadian border?

Not a fan of the wall, as it won’t do what people think it’ll do. But at least Mexico is paying for it. So that’s good.
