https://www.oregonlive.com/portland/2015/08/daves_killer_bread_bought_by_f.html I know this happened years ago, but I say kudos to big Dave! I loved his business model of helping people with criminal backgrounds and offering jobs in the company. That said, I doubt the new company (Flowers Foods) is offering the same. As an aside, when I lived in Bend, I knew that the founders of 10-Barrel Brewery sold brew rights to Anheueser Busch for some $50mil. Good on American small businesses cashing in!
He's also a nut job. Look up Dave Dahl. He's had lots of mental issues and run in with the law even after getting out of prison. Good bread though.
Actually Dave's Killer Bread has an insane amount of sugar in it. That's why it tastes good but so much sugar that it's not good for you.
I have a friend who works there. Sugar is one of the reasons I won't buy the bread. And there are other reasons.
But in his defense he named it “Killer bread”, likely to stave off any future lawsuits. They can’t say he didn’t warn them.
The wife of a friend of mine use to work there as a manager. She loved the company and claimed Dave to be a good guy. Besides, their bread tastes great.
Bread is carbohydrate the same as sugar. If you take two or more sugar molecules and bond them together you get a carbohydrate the same as you find in bread. Once you eat the bread your digestion will break it down into sugars. Diabetics know that carbs are as bad a sugar only they take a little longer to get into your blood stream as blood sugar, glucose. When I make Johnny cake, Jiffy, corn bread, I add diced green chiles, a dash of baking soda, one egg and SUGAR. It is insanely delicious.
I hardly ever eat store bought bread as my wife makes most of the bread we eat. Im sure its not healthy, because its delicious.
Don't really eat much of any of them. Really I don't eat food thats bad for me a lot, I just eat too much food lol. My wife is so good at making things taste amazing. Would legit rather have her food than even nice restuarants like 9 times out of 10.
Totally understandable. My grandma does that to me with her southern style of cooking and my girlfriend with her Chinese cuisine.
