Hes got playmaking skills I want him to show the NBA it.Hes like an Andre Miller right now.</div>I really hope you're kidding about the Andre Miller comment. I havent watched him much (only a few regular season games and playoffs) since he left Miami a few years ago but I know that Alston is a shoot first guy, Andre Miller is a playmaking guard that gets everyone involved in the game and will pass the ball over taking a shot every time. He is also a below average shooter outside of like 15 feet. Alston has great ball-handling skills but is a shoot-first guard. Alston can become a good play-maker with his quickness and handling but right now he is strictly a shoot-first guard. He takes the shot everytime he is open and also makes a lot of mistakes by trying to force shots. I've always liked Alston but to say he is the play-maker that Andre Miller is plain dumb.
Tracy is a POINTFORWARD because he handled the primary set up roles and he did it better than Rafer.Rafer COULD be a a good PG if he could be any kind of a threat offensively but you cant blame JVG for Rafer sucking. Rafer has had 1, count them 1 good season in a career that spans 8 years. He isnt a bad distributer and if you saw any of the Rocket games without him the offense really struggled to get going. But IMO Rafer is more suited for a back-up role or atleast a 25-28 minutes a night not a full fledge starter.LET ME JUST COPY AND PASTE OUR ARGUMENT<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (kobetmacyao)</div><div class='quotemain'>if your gonna call t-mac one you mind as well call Josh Howard, Paul Pierce and Corey Maggette one.</div>Oh what a great way to make it sound like you know what your talking about. And you can easily blame JVG for Rafer sucking, because of his retarded offensive system, and he made players who werent even comfortable shooting 3s, shoot 3s. Like the Spanoulis situation
OK So you admit Tmac handled the playmaking/distributing roles the way a pointforward would, but the only reason he isnt considered a PointForward is because he started at SG all year. OK well let me explain to you why your logic is flawed. Tmac spent 37% of the Rockets total minutes at the 2 and 25% of the Rockets total minutes at the 3 so he plays enough minutes to QUALIFY as a pointforward. Its why he was often called a pointforward ALOT this year. By the Rockets announcers, other teams announcers, the tnt/espn guys and was even mentioned as a PointForward in a game log. And offensively the team did play significantly better when he played the 3SpotIm sorry but calling me an idiot doesn't refute ANY OF THESE FACTS.As for JVG yes he is an offensively challenged coach who is notorious for not adapting to his role players strengths. But Rafer has sucked in other places long before coming to Houston, the only time he had a DECENT year was when he played for a lottery bound Toronto team. Anything else you want to add to your classy arguments?
Well all I can say is Alston has some obvious weakness that hurt the rockets BADLY in the playoff this year. 1) his defense and body toughness is just not enough to guard some good PG.2) I heard the person saying JVG focusing on Yao&Mac and alston is not used alot. come on..with yao and mac how many open shots are you going to get even if you get 1/3 of it you are a 20 pts player....3) I saw some of his street ball moves but it that's the only thing he gets the fans excited...thats like 20 sec per game. 4) he can't drive the ball inside. if he can we could have swept the jazz in the playoff easily..thats just my opinion..no offense for all those alston fans
