Re: Official Tennesee Vols Thread! I was finding myself talking about the Vols on a Huskies thread, so I just made this one. This is just where we can have Vols basketball discussion if anyone wants.I really like the current Vols, and our future. Some people may say this is the Vols one and only shot with Lofton and JaJuan Smith being seniors, and while I hope we go really deep, we will still be good in upcoming years. We have some standout freshmen returning in Ramar Smith, Duke Crews, and Wayne Chism. Pearl is a great coach and runs a great style, and I'm more pumped for Vols basketball than ever.
Re: Official Tennesee Vols Thread! Go Chris Lofton! You think he could crack the first round next year? He's got good size but he might be too much of a shooter and too little of a point guard for scouts.

I don't see him as a second rounder and I think he'll prove all these mock drafts wrong. He was "just a shooter" when Kentucky and Louisville didn't recruit him, and has turned into a lot more than that. Yes, he can shoot with the best of them, but can also get to the basket easily and hit a layp at any possible angle. He's a good passer and a good defender who can get into the lanes and cut off passes. I think his stock will improve a lot this season.

But from what I have seen, he does do a good bit more and is definitely not one dimensional. We may see him have a Daniel Gibson type impact for whoever takes him, who knows.
Re: Official Tennesee Vols Thread! Imagine Eddie House back in college...thats what I kindve see. Excellent shooter but can score off the dribble as well, and of course is caught between positions...
Re: Official Tennesee Vols Thread! Oh man Chris Lofton pissed me off last year. That Ok St./Tenn game at the beginning of the year gave me a heart attack. Either team could have one it, Tennessee just came out with it.Anyways, you guys have a nice looking team this year, Lofton will have a monster season.

OSU was undefeated and moving up the rankings, then we knocked them off. I was jumping for joy.

Damn injuries. :no3: Haha I wanted to cry after that game.

That was a great game though.

We blew a 20 point lead! We would have gone on to beat Memphis probably, then made the Final 4. But, we blew it.
Re: Official Tennesee Vols Thread! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Yahoo! SportsFor Tennessee head coach Bruce Pearl the days of struggling to match-up with teams in the post are over as the Vols are adding a big piece to their team puzzle for this fall in NBA prospect Tyler Smith.Smith and Tennessee learned today that the Iowa transfer and Tennessee native has won his hardship appeal making him eligible for play immediately. Smith filed the appeal because his father Billy Smith has been battling illness for sometime. Smith who spurned Bruce Pearl when he was hired at Tennessee by going to a prep school to get out of is letter of intent is happy to be a Vol.Link------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------To be honest, I really don't know the story behind Tyler Smith, but I will definatly read up on him. The article makes him out to be a good prospect, so I'm happy.
Re: Official Tennesee Vols Thread! Tennessee is close to locking down basketball coach Bruce Pearl to a new deal that will include more guaranteed money as well as a retention bonus, but he'll still fall well behind Florida's Billy Donovan and Kentucky's Billy Gillispie in total compensation.Donovan, on the heels of back-to-back national championships at Florida, signed a new deal last month that will pay him $3.5 million. Gillispie, after coming over from Texas A&M, will earn approximately $2.3 million with the Wildcats.Pearl's raise is expected to take him to the $1.3 million range next season and increase each year from there. He was scheduled to make $1.2 million under his old deal. He'll collect an additional retention bonus as part of his new deal if he remains at Tennessee for the life of the contract.Link-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
