According to Andy Katz (no link, but CelticsBlog wouldn't post it if it wasn't true), the C's are bringing Nick Young in for a workout. He obviously isn't being considered for the #5 pick, but I wonder why we'd bring him in to begin with. Sure, if we trade down, you want to work out other options, but another 2-guard? Why? The only way this would make sense is if we dealt Pierce and ended up with a low lottery pick, but I really doubt that happens. If we do end up trading Pierce, I honestly doubt something gets worked out within the next day and a half.

Do Celtics fans want to keep the #5 pick? If I were a Celtics fan, I would definitely trade it. I'd definitely want to keep Paul Pierce. The only problem is that almost every team that wants that #5 pick also wants Al Jefferson, and Ainge needs to keep him. You have to feel for Danny Ainge right now.. lots of pressure building up on him and the Boston management. You don't want Pierce to leave, but you don't want to trade Al Jefferson, either. Yikes.

I want to keep the pick at this point. I don't trust Danny Ainge to make a trade that makes us better under this much pressure.I love Pierce to death but I think most Celtics fans agree with me when I say that we want Al Jefferson and we want to build around him. We don't want a rent-a-player just to make Pierce happy if it's going to cost us the building blocks the future when we can be actual contenders. We should look to make a trade for Pierce and get another pick in this draft along with some quality vets/contracts and a young star.

I want to keep Pierce, but here's the thing... As much as I want Pierce around, I'd rather deal Pierce and move on than throw away too much young talent and not get enough in return, just because Danny is in panic-mode.

He's 3 years in, he's either gonna start to turn the corner and look really good next year or continue to frustrate. It can go either way with him IMO.
