It all started after Trump was elected. His election gave Antifa a reason to destroy shit and to display their anarchy. It also emboldened White Supremacists to come out of their hole as well. Stop trying to blame one over the other. They are both shit and are both wrong. They are autonomous of each other. One did not cause the other.
Both sides are children, make no mistake. You can throw your hands up and say “both sides are wrong” and technically be correct, but you really have to acknowledge the fact that one side destroys more property, disrupts more people’s lives, and physically attacks more people. And it’s not even close. If a guys hits his wife you can’t defend the action by saying “well, she egged him on”. That is being ignorant as to who is clearly the more dangerous aggressor.
One would not be here without the other. I am absolutely blaming antifa and the other protestors for bringing these douchebags to our city.
Both sides are hateful and violent. Antifa has destroyed more property. As for most dangerous agressor both sides have hurt people. I don't think antifa has killed anyone. I wish I didn't have to hear or see about either of these groups. The police better be ready because it gets violent every time.

I am not excusing the actions of either of these groups. I am saying I blame them both and Trump was an ignition for bothof these groups. I hope they all go to jail. Throwing bricks at windows and lighting trash cans on fires fixes nothing. Neither does spewing hate or supporting the supremacy of one color of skin over another.
They were disruptive though. Blocking max trains. Creating chaos. I know this because I was working downtown at the time and it made life very difficult.
Occupy Portland? Yeah that was disruptive. I believe Antifa did make a showing during that, though it was mostly peaceful. There was a lot of damage to the parks downtown. I remember that. I don't recall seeing Antifa again till Trump. He gave them a reason to destroy shit again not that they seem to need one. He also emblodened these right wing white supremacist groups to come out. Those groups didnt say to themselves oh look antifa destroyed a bunch of shit lets go protest about our supremacy. They came out because of Trump.
If I weren't disabled I'd be there protesting the far Right guys. Would I involve myself in violence or even counter violence? Hell, no. I'm not in to that kind of stuff. I've been involved in enough fighting in combat to satisfy me for a lifetime, unless, of course, someone wants to fuck with my family. I do have a boiling point but it's up there pretty high.
As much as I don't like the way these things have gone over the last couple of years, I can't ignore the fact that LITERAL Nazis are marching through the streets of Portland and you people are blaming "both sides" and hating on Antifa. There are dick bags in any group, but Antifa stands for Anti-fascist. The hateful right wing groups stand for fascism and don't believe non whites have the right to even exist. One of these things is not like the other. You can't believe that non-white people don't have a right to even exist and still be called a "peaceful protester". Fuck that shit.
