When I see them convey they believe in the Constitution and Democracy I will give them credit, I have yet to see them do that, at all. When I see them burn the American flag, knowing my youngest son is being deployed next month, I have a hard time with Antifas sincere motivation.
You keep saying that, but I don't find it any more convincing than saying antifa wouldn't be here if not for the neo-nazis. There does seem to be a feedback loop where each side encourages a larger response from the other, but who "started it" doesn't seem either important or knowable. barfo
I saw some graffiti in the Vista tunnel just now that said "Sometimes Portland is ashamed of ABM, too!" barfo
It was beautiful graffiti, believe me. 10 or 20 feet, some say 35 or even 47 feet tall. We have the best graffiti, don't we? But the fake news won't report that. I call them the fake news, because they're fake. barfo
Bad elements might attach themselves to Antifa, but Antifa itself isn't a bad element. And they aren't anarchists or whatever y'all are saying. Read and then post: https://rosecityantifa.org/faq/
If you think ANTIFA isn’t bad or are just a nuisance more than an actual domestic terrorist organization, YOU are part of the problem. Fuck White Supremacists, Fuck the Proud Boys, Fuck real Nazis too, ANTIFA is just as bad if not worse than those fucks though in current day America. Especially in our state.
I'm embarrassed for you. Research before you regurgitate. Hell, email Rose City Antifa them and ask all your questions and see how you feel afterwards...unless you are one of those "very fine people on both sides" kinda guys.
So......after reading their manifesto, it appears that Antifa is determined to fight to the death to defend America’s right to free speech by denying the Proud boys their right to free speech. AND they even rationalize it by saying that debate (an accepted form of free speech) is not an effective tool against the Proud Boys, therefore it should not be allowed. Only by physically denying their right is the way to go. Got it. Maybe you should feel embarrassed for yourself. Because what Antifa is saying is that the only acceptable free speech is the free speech they agree with. Please tell me you can’t see the hypocrisy? I am in no way supporting the Proud Boys (or similar idiots). I only support their right to make complete fools of themselves, just as I support Antifa’s right to do the same. And I have no doubt that both groups will do an outstanding job of that this weekend.....
Sure, it's hypocritical but there is a massive asterisk attached: when confronting fascists, sometimes words aren't enough. And while I think this is part of a bigger discussion, I will say I think we've all seen what hateful language can do to a country--now and throughout history. (And give me a fucking break about debate. What a waste of time.) Listen, I'm all for free speech, but hate speech can fuck off. Richard Spencer can get punched daily and I'm fine with it. What is most disappointing to me, actually, is that we regular people don't run the Proud Boys out of town ourselves.
Both sides are 100% ignorant cowards of no value to the future of human race. One side was unheard of, didn't really exist as a group, and stayed home in their Vancouver, WA basements until provoked by the side being paid by country-killer George Soros to instigate violence. Prosecute/imprison antifa along with George Soros and entire problem solved.
