Deng is more fundamentally sound and experienced. Smith is more of a dynamic fantasy player who puts up big #'s. I say Deng is the better player now and will be in the future.EDIT: My bad. I thought it was Josh Smith. I still say Deng because he has more of an offensive game then Howard. He is also slightly more athletic.

Luol Deng.3 quick Reasons why I think Luol Deng is a better player than Josh Howard1. Luol Deng is younger, meaning by the time he reaches Josh Howards current age he's going to be averaging much more than Josh Howard ever did at that age, simple.2. Luol Deng just has a much bigger upside to him than Josh Howard does, Luol is capable of 25 & 10 + in years to come and too me that makes him extremely valuable to whoever has hold of him, now don't get me wrong .. Josh Howard can still improve a heap but I don't see him being more than 22ppg scorer, for now im going to stick with labeling him as a person who's always consistent at playing a great game all round kind of like a Rip Hamilton or a Rashard Lewis if you know what I mean.3. Though Josh Howard is a pretty versitile player, too me he still dosen't compare to the talent Deng posses, Deng is overall a more of a talented player and a skilled player to add to that. The only category Howard edges out Deng in is probley defense and mabye 2 point shoting when he's on a role and not to mention that steadly improving 3 point shot of his which could become a trademark of his in the near future. What Deng exels in is his ability to drive the ball to the hoop extremly well and at the same time finish and if he dosen't decided to do that he can just pull up for a jumpshot and shot right over you or pass the ball off, most of the time he will just flat out beat his opponents, so with Luol being more capable of things id defently say he's better.
Yeah, I think the obvious choice is Luol Deng. I'd take him now and I'd take him in five years. He is a very versatile scorer... good man-to-man defender, much better than Howard. I guess this topic isn't as close as I'd think it would be.
