I rather enjoy reading the varying opinions on negotiating with the Taliban. It seems there is a strong emotional rejection of allowing the Taliban into camp David. Some how different than Arafat, whom also drew emotional rejection from many for even being allowed into the US. To me it is something to note but perhaps not judge since I have no need for a decision. But I do wonder if there is a logical reason to negotiate with the Taliban, regardless of the emotional optics. History and the reality of the specific religious affiliations of the Taliban strongly suggest that any agreement with this organization is useless if not worthless. The same can be said of Nation building in Afghanistan for the same reasons. We should leave. Trumps instincts here are correct. But we should be prepared to return and kick ass again if and when required. Nothing in history says, one sessions will be sufficient, nor is there a right way to succeed. There is no shame in understanding the reality.

I do wish we'd get put of Afghanistan. We will never be able to trust radical islamist. As long as we have soldiers on the ground in the mid east they are going to be targets. In my view the US should want to have the greatest Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, National Guard and Space Program on the planet....get out of regional conflicts that are not a direct threat and use modern technology to keep global peace....the days of ground troops massed everywhere needs to end.
