For all of you guru's out there, I was wondering if there are any second reounders that might become the next Michael Redd or Gil (he was a second reounder right?)Now's the time to say "him" and when that player does turn out to be great you'll look like a genous and if he doesn't well.......no one will remember anyway!So who is going to be a steal/Star in the second round
Well, he probably won't end up like Gilbert Arenas or Michael Redd (considering he doesn't even play their positions), but Stephane Lasme from UMass is a guy to keep your eye on. He's pretty much the next Paul Millsap - great shotblocker, undersized, strong, and plays PF. Great hustle player, as well. Another guy to keep your eye on is Demetris Nichols, he's a SF, plays solid perimeter defense, as well as being a very consistent perimeter shooter. He is pretty sound athletically, and he's very good at moving without the ball, great mid-range jumper, etc. Only knock on him is that he needs to get stronger in his upper body and improve his ball-handling skills.
I've been saying this for months, Marcus Williams is being ridiculously slept on. I think he's a top 20 talent, and if he slips into the 2nd round he would be an enormous steal. If Arron Afflalo falls into the 2nd round, I think he'll be one as well. Big Baby could really help out right away and be a steal in the 2nd round. Taurean Green, same deal. Alando Tucker too. There is a lot of talent that will be available in the 2nd round. But again, if Marcus Williams fall to the second round... watch out. Hell, even if he gets picked in the late first round, watch out.
Well we won't know who's really a second rounder until the draft is over, but hell, I like Glen Davis. A lot of people think he might even crack the first round. This guy has skills; he's quick for his size and has been shooting jumpers pretty well since HS. He'll need to work on his weight too. Reyshawn Terry might be another diamond in the rough; seeing him play sometimes made me think he would have been a first round lock. And, of course, Marcus Williams who will probably end up being a nice all around talent.

Great hustle player, as well.</div>I agree, and this guy doesn't have short arms either, which is a must for a 6-8 PF. He led the country with 5.1 BPG, but then again so did Justin Williams and he never made it. A good thing though is that Byron Scott commented that he was surprised at Lasme's jumpshot and offensive ability at his workout; a lot of people downplay it.

Your gonna make it look like I'm just agreeing with what you said when I think I was the first one to originally bring him up lol. Anyways yeah the only guy I could see becoming a 20 ppg scorer in the NBA goingin the 2nd round is Marcus Williams. If he just works on that three point shot and works on his mechanics, I have no doubt in my mind he will be scoring around the 20 ppg range at his peak. His mid range game is already fantastic and his slashing has shown a lot of improvement over his career at Arizona. He will be a very good 2nd scoring option for a team.However there is still a good chance he goes in the 1st round. I honestly can't imagine nobody noticing how good of a prospect Williams really is despite what mock drafts are saying.
There are alot of SG's that are projected to go in the late first round/early 2nd round, but it's hard to tell which ones will go in the first round and which ones will drop down to the 2nd round...I think some of those guys could be diamonds though...Like Morris Almond for example....

I honestly think Glen Davis will be picked in the 1st round... but late, late 1st round, like maybe the 28th pick from the Spurs, they could use a backup PF. Robert Horry doesn't have much gas left in the tank.

He was a consensus lottery pick for months, then all of the sudden he fell off the map because Arizona underachieved a bit. Does he make some mistakes? Does he need to add some weight? Does he have an awkward release on his shot? Yes, but he can play 3 positions, he's very athletic, he's versatile, he can shoot whether you like his form or not, and he creates for others. He's an average defender, he needs to work on things and get stronger, but I think he's a nice talent that fell mainly because of Arizona's lack of success.

IMO Marcus Williams is the #1 SG prospect in this draft. If Arizona hadn't played like crap this season you would be seeing Marcus Williamsup there with Nick Young in the late lottery-mid 1st instead of in the late 1st or early 2nd round. Other than 3 point shooting Williams offensive game is already so polished. His mid range jumper is deadly, he can take it to the hoop well, and he's just so great at creating for himself with his combination of ballhandling skills, length, and athleticism. He'll be a great one on one player in the NBA. Also like CB32 said he's very versatile.He's one of the best rebounding guards in this draft. He's also got good courtvision and showed the capability of being a playmaker this season. Last everything that Williams needs to work on is fixable. His shooting mechanics, defense, strength, and 3 point shooting can all be worked on. So far Williams has shown a very good work ethic and has shown he wants to reach his full potential. The worst I see him being is a good 3rd option for a team and score around 12-15 ppg along with 5-6 rpg. I wouldn't be suprised at all if he averaged 20 ppg, 6-7 rpg, and 4-5 apg at his peak as a very good 2nd option.
