Look, Im not claiming that Kerr or the NBA is good or bad, but their response to this rubs me the wrong way. Clearly I understand thats a subjective opinion and I understand and respect other people’s takes on it. Even Kerr’s, I just dont believe he’s being that incredibly honest with us about all of it which is his choice and fine, but like his free speech and ability to speak out on issues that he finds important, I too can exercise my right to speak freely on my opinions.
China and Hong Kong are very, very different Asian cultures...they don't even speak the same language...the Cantonese in southern China and Hong Kong are some of the most capitalistic people in Asia...love gambling...HK is the main hub for the Chinese Triads....(mafia) and has branches in major cities throughout the world.....it is a smuggling port...big money has been under the table there for centuries....most mainland Chinese people are apolitical...only work, family and food get much thought. They accept that govt is chaotic and militant and live accordingly....Hong Kong residents are not from that ilk....they are aggressive business people....I've been throughout China twice and visited Hong Kong a couple dozen times over a long stretch....this is another Tiananmen Square situation that unfortunately will end up with the Mainland winning. Having freedom of speech without censorship is something we should never take for granted.
When was he talkative about stuff he is not versed in? I honestly think you are projecting in this case.
Maybe, but either way I don't believe his reasons for not talking about it. Are you projecting by believing his reasons for it? isn't that call subjective either way... I actually don't mind too much of Kerr or Pop's though yeah sometimes they get annoying but I find myself agreeing with them or at least understanding them most of the time. Just this instance doesn't sit well.
How am I projecting if I am quoting him? I have also said that I have never seen him being subversive or outright lie. Have you? If you have, I can understand not believing him. If you have not, frankly, you are projecting.
PLEASE MOVE THIS SHIT OFF OUR MAIN PAGE! I don’t give a fuck what the tropic is, there are now posts about Trump and guns in America. Times up! Move this bitch!
As of September 1, there were 280 shooting deaths in 2019 in 270 days. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/mass-shootings-2019-more-mass-shootings-than-days-so-far-this-year/ You really can't tell what he's trying to convey here or are you being literal on purpose?
Like it or not, the moment Trump randomly targeted Kerr, the two topics became intertwined. Considering how close you are to the NBA, and given your occupation is directly related to covering it, I'd figure you'd be interested in the whole economics of the issue
I think you are underreporting it. There have been 283 mass shooting incidents in 270 days. There are on average around 13,000, non suicide gun deaths on intent per year (this comes to 35 deaths per day). On average, he is right, there is a mass shooting per day. Death by gun violence are much higher.
So yeah sorry if I don't believe every word that comes out of his mouth. here's a fun steve kerr qoute. "So I lied. Sorry, but I don’t think they give you the trophy based on morality. They give it to you if you win. So sorry about that." Yeah it's about basketball, but it seems to me the message is clear from Coaches who do this type of "white lie" when it suits them that they're definitely capable of saying things that aren't true when it suits them.
You are entitled to believe whoever you want. I have been a Kerr fan for a long time (remember running into him often at Mother's restaurant downtown when he played for Portland) and he has always seemed genuine - in my opinion, in this case, you are projecting.
VERY interested actually. I just don’t come on hear to read people’s opinion on religion or politics is all. I know where to go find all that bullshit if I want to. And the email page is no place for it in my opinion.
https://www.gunviolencearchive.org/reports/mass-shooting is it is interesting, but life isn't just this year. I do agree with much of Kerr's stances on Gun's and gun regulations / laws. It might be projection if you want to call it that, but I just don't take him at his word here, at the least it's pretty convenient for him to not have anything to say about the subject, but my opinion on it is just that my opinion on it.
Ah so you've met him and have a subjective bias by that, that you enjoyed your time with him so you're inclined to believe him. Look were all seeing what we want too! lol. I mean I get it. He may be telling the truth, but and I have said a bunch of times I am of the opinion in this case he wasn't. I think were just spinning the cycles though at this point so I'll bow out because I don't think we are getting places. I'll accept it I'm projecting because I must be if I don't just believe Kerr today.
This forum isn't the news, man, you know that. Can't expect people to not have an opinion. Look at how much crap Kerr is getting for NOT having one.
Of course there is bias, there is always bias - and in the case of having some interaction with someone - I believe it usually helps to figure out who is full of crap and who is not, I am usually pretty sure of my BS detector, especially when I had a chance to meet someone in person and observe them. As I said, I have been a fan of Kerr for a long time, got to listen to him as a TV analyst, enjoyed watching his coached team play (and listen to his interaction with the media) and had a small amount of time to actually interact with him in person - so yes, I believe I have enough data to get a read (and I am certain that there is a chance that I am duped as well). When discussing character / belief - experience observing an individual an having some kind of an idea of his track record is a good way to evaluate him. Sure.
I believe anyone who wants to speak out against the Hong Kong issue should feel free to do it...I don't think people should be judged for keeping their opinions to themselves either. Kerr can choose his own words and times just like all free thinking and uncensored people can.....
