I hope this is enough to keep Pierce happy. Ray has 1 more year left on his deal than Wally but if he can stay healthy he can give the C's 20ppg easily. In the 50 something games he played last season I believe he scored more ppg than Pierce. The C's potentially make the playoffs this season without giving up a whole lot of the future. Overall I guess I'm not pissed. But I don't love it. Yet.</div>You don't get Green.

The sad thing is, the C's will probably do really well next year (barring Ray getting hurt again and doing wally time) but I don't see it going much beyond that and I don't even see a conference Finals next year.

The deal doesn't happen 5-6 years ago because Allen is one of the top 10-15 players in the league. You have such a short-sighted view. There will be another deal in some way, shape, or form. What for, when, and who it will be I don't know, but it's certainly coming. You don't just let a giant trading Piece like Ratliff's deal expire. I think a 24 win season is worth going through if the team can compete the next year. Guess what? This team can compete at a playoff level now. Sure I'd love to have Durant or Horford instead, but I'd rather have Allen and Pierce than Yi and the mediocre package #34 would garner.

Pierce would be gone, we'd get barely anything for him, and there goes the franchise player for some young decent spare parts. I agree that Allen only has 3 years left as a significant contributor max, but those are also Pierce's prime. allen won't have to carry the load like he did in Seattle. With Tony Allen and Gerald backing him up he can rest and not over-stress his aging body. It's a perfect situation for him.I dislike Ainge quite a bit, but he needed to do something. He almost pulled off deals for Marion and KG but was rebuffed because they didn't want to play here. Because Allen is in Boston guys will WANT to play here now instead of dread it. I'm not saying he'll bring in another all-star, but somebody of value will be coming here before the deadline.

CelticFan I hear you when you say Allen might be a rental but what else would you have wanted? I'm not being sarcastic either, it's either you trade Gerald/Al J/#5 for Garnett as a rental or you make a deal like this and keep the young guys we've already been working on. Or you take the #5 pick, get another project or young guy and then Paul is pissed off and you have to deal with that mess. Also, if we took Green, then let's say Pierce gets mad and demands a trade, you have to deal Paul and get nothing close to his value in return. I agree with LL33 when he says Ainge had to do something and he finally pulled a move to get a veteran talent in here. We've been wanting Ainge to make a significant move since he took over and he FINALLY did that. For all the negatives people have to say about Ray Allen, let's look at the positives. He's an absolute sniper, he can pass, run the floor, distribute the ball, he's been a consistent player his whole career nd most importantly he is a great veteran presence. Him and Paul working together with Gerald Green will help his maturity in ways we can't even imagine. I think there is much more upside to this deal than people realize.

His injury problems are blown out of proportion as well. Bone spurs aren't the end of the world.

The Celtics got a proven 25ppg scorer and kept Pierce, Green, Rondo, and Big Al. You can say you don't like it, but it's not a bad deal.

I wasn't and advocate of keeping the 5th, but there shoulda been a better deal than this.heck why no squeeze the Sonics for a sign and trade for rashard?the bobcats at least got a younger Jason Richardson for their #8.. that's a better deal than we got IMO.I think Ainge made a panic deal and other than getting rid of Wally (which he had to include) he got taken to the cleaners.this is gonna be the Joe Johnson deal all over again.

Atleast he used Wally and not Theo's contract. Ray Allen is the best shooter in the NBA. A proven 25ppg scorer, he is better than JRich, and compliments Pierce better too.

hey guys this is nba dogmatist, I'm at ballerman's house. thought I'd share my views on the trade:I personally kinda liked the trade. I know, I know, we really needed a center, and say, noah would have been a pretty good solid choice, but this franchise needed something, or it seemed like that to me. Wally was trash, and we all love Delonte, but let's get real wasn't essential to the team. we didn't lose all that much for getting an all-star in return. And yes, Ray Allen is aging, but he is also one of the best pure shooters in the league. and to me he's not just a shooter, he can slash a little bit too. He knows how to get his shot off, he's pretty efficient, and he works pretty well with his teammates. I think he's a pretty good fit. and a bonus, glen davis. He may not do very much statistically, but let me tell you, this kid has heart. He's a winner, too, and he showed that at LSU.

Guess what? There wasn't. A move needed to be made to avoid a Pierce trade demand and Danny did it while unloading Wally's bad contract and keeping Ratliff who is a valuable trading piece. I wouldn't call that getting taken to the cleaners. That was last year's draft day deal. The Sonics wanted to get younger so maybe they're keeping Rashard. Maybe he wants to sign with a certain team and refused to comply with a sign and trade. There are plenty of reasons "why". The Warriors wouldn't take Wally, and J-Rich actually has knee problems and is an inferior player to Allen.

Im a Ray Allen fan! I know he will do well in Boston and I know Boston Celtic fans will love the guy, he's one of those guys who makes everyone around him like him for being Ray Allen, he's been a extremly consistent scorer throughout his entire career, no injury is going to change that, count on it. He can only bring good to this franchise, I think Ranjo/Allen/Pierce/Jefferson/Perkins? could workout very well and the franchise is still looking to deal so it can only get better, I don't think anyone here should be dissipointed about the pick trading, it's now become clear that danny want's this team to win rather now than later on, it's his choice because after all he is the GM that's happening to be running the show in Boston, so yer good luck with the guy .. im sure Boston fans can grow to love him.
